Chapter 18 Cecilia Didn’t Come Home
After a moment of silence, Cecilia replied to Jerome, “Kolton helped find a lawyer.”
Veronica was the first one Cecilia told about her marriage to Kolton.
The day before Cecilia got the marriage certificate, Veronica took her out to drink. In the end, Veronica drank too much and cried uncontrollably while holding Cecilia, saying that Cecilia must be happy.
Jerome was also there, so he knew that Cecilia had married Kolton.
Later, Jerome suddenly went abroad and didn’t come back for two years.
Now, Cecilia still felt a bit awkward in front of Jerome, so she didn’t tell him that she wanted to divorce Kolton.
Fortunately, Jerome didn’t ask much. He just told Cecilia, “Whoever comes out to deal with this problem will face trouble.”
“But no matter what, I can’t leave Quincy alone.”
Cecilia knew that if she stood out to deal with Quincy’s problem, she would become the focus of public attention, and her every move would be monitored.
If she made a mistake, no matter how minor it was, what awaited her would be endless accusations and criticisms.
But she was Quincy’s big sister, and there was indeed something odd in that car accident.
Besides, even if it was really an accident caused by Quincy’s carelessness, Cecilia had to help Quincy, make amends. She couldn’t just go away and

leave him alone.
“If you face any problems, you can call me,” Jerome
d to Cecilia.
The elevator door opened. Jerome reached out and held the door, gesturing for Cecilia to go out first.
After getting out of the elevator, Cecilia lowered her head, straightened her clothes, took off Jerome’s suit jacket, and gave it back to him.
“Thank you, Jerome.”
Her wrist had a round of red marks because of Alisa’s brother’s grip just now, which looked very serious.
Jerome just took a glance at it and then took back his suit jacket calmly.
“Don’t mention it. Be careful on your way back.”
After bidding farewell, Cecilia went to the parking lot.
She was using the Bradshaw family’s backup car now as Garrett was in the hospital and didn’t need it these days.

Under the night sky, a Maybach stopped at the entrance of a
villa.
Kolton got out of the car, untied his tie with both hands, with his coat at the bend of his arm, and entered the villa.
It was pitch dark inside, and Kolton paused when opening the door.
Because of his busy work, he hadn’t been back for a few days.
The last time he came back was the night when Cecilia made a fuss for no
reason.

Usually, no matter how late he came back, the light at home was always
- on.
Cecilia would also come to welcome him home with a smile.
But now, the villa was completely dark, which Kolton was unaccustomed to.
He turned on the entrance light, changed his shoes, entered the living room, and casually threw his coat and tie onto the sofa.
As usual, he went upstairs to take a shower first.
He was indeed unaccustomed to it now. No one talked to him and cared about him, and no one came to pick up his dirty clothes for him.
Also, there was no one to help solve his physical needs now.
Kolton frowned deeply and dialed Vicente’s number.
“How’s the case?”
Vicente answered, “Thanks to you, this case has caught a lot of public attention. Although it’s just a pet dog, the chance of bringing the lawsuit to court is very high.”
“Good.” Kolton walked out of the bedroom and stood on the balcony, with a gentle night breeze blowing his pants against his straight legs.
He then asked, “What about the Bradshaw family’s case?”
Vicente sighed, “Moses told me it was a tricky case. The chance of winning is only 30 percent.”
“What if it was you who took the case?” Kolton lit a cigarette and put it between his lips.
The flickering light outlined his faintly visible jawline.

Vicente suddenly chuckled, replying, “Actually, I was quite interested in that case and wanted to give it a shot. As for the chance of winning, it was quite slim. Now, looks like Ms. Velasquez’s dog’s case has helped me keep being the Undefeated Lawyer in the industry.”
Vicente hadn’t lost a lawsuit in many years.
These years, he had been trying to challenge himself, so he kept taking on difficult cases.
He was quite interested in the Bradshaw family’s case. Even though he was less experienced than Moses in handling cases like that, he still wanted to try it.
But now, seeing that even Moses felt it was a vexed case, Vicente suddenly felt glad that Kolton forced him to take another case:
Vicente thought that if he took the Bradshaw family’s case, his undefeated record might be broken, and the Bradshaw family might lose the lawsuit.
Kolton uttered a snorting laugh and then said, “Alright. Bye.”
After hanging up, he threw his phone onto the low table.
Moses had already begun to handle the Bradshaw family’s case.
But why hadn’t Cecilia come back yet?
Kolton looked at the dark scenery outside with a slightly sullen face.
The cigarette was now between his fingers, its light flickering.
The cold breeze blew, making him cool down. Late at night, he finally returned to his room.
But the bed was full of Cecilia’s scent, making him unable to fall asleep.
He lost sleep because of Cecilia.

Well, he didn’t admit it was because of missing Cecilia.
He was just a healthy young man who missed her body. That was it.
Thinking that Cecilia seemed to have completely changed recently, he felt annoyed.
He was annoyed because Cecilia was being unreasonable again.
The next day, Kolton arrived at NimbusCore Group early in the morning.
When Trenton came to report, he was very cautious, not even daring to breathe heavily.
He was afraid that Kolton would ask him about yesterday’s matter.
But no matter how he prayed in his heart, Kolton still asked about it.
“Did she say anything before she left yesterday?”
Kolton gently rubbed his wrist, seemingly asking so casually.
Trenton answered honestly, “Mrs. Thompson said thanks.
“That’s all?” Kolton’s face darkened a bit. Since Cecilia said thanks, it meant that she knew it was because of Kolton that she could get the Mendez Law Firm’s help.
But why didn’t she come to thank Kolton in person?
“Mrs. Thompson indeed thanked me, and I was flattered. Anyway, I used your connection
to help arrange a lawyer for her,” Trenton explained with a bit of fluster, not sure what Kolton’s attitude ivas exactly.
Kolton seemed to be angry with Cecilia, but Trenton still felt that something was odd.
Meanwhile, Kolton’s body stiffened for a moment. “She thanked you?”

Trenton had a bad feeling, and he immediately explained, “No, of course not! She thanked you, Mr. Thompson. But you left before she could say anything!”
But no matter how Trenton explained now, it was too late.
Kolton had been in a rage the whole morning.
His employees all guessed that it was because Iris was bullied by her neighbor.
Veronica had her “spies” in Kolton’s company, so she soon heard about this thing
She was so resentful. But seeing that Cecilia was busy dealing with Quincy’s matter, she didn’t say anything about it.
She just advised Cecilia, “You didn’t sleep last night. Take some rest, okay?”
After Cecilia got back last night, she sat in the living room all night, searching for cases similar to Quincy’s online.
She learned that without solid evidence, it was very difficult to determine whether the victim was actually a racketeer or not.
She went to visit Alisa’s family yesterday and ended up being embarrassed. She could understand their hostility against her.
She didn’t wanna trigger Alisa’s mom’s rage and sadness again, so she decided to try if she could find any evidence from Alisa herself.
She told Veronica, “I’m not tired. Quincy is still in detention. I need to find evidence as soon as possible.”
Jasmin called Cecilia this morning, asking her why she still hadn’t got Quincy out.

Jasmin didn’t care how tricky the matter was. She would only doubt if Cecilia had really tried her best to save Quincy.
Cecilia explained, but Jasmin didn’t listen and just told Cecilia, “Your dad said that if you can’t save Quincy, don’t come back to see us!”
With that, Jasmin hung up the phone.
Since Jasmin wouldn’t listen, Cecilia gave up on explaining.
Jasmin’s words really hurt Cecilia. But Cecilia wanted to save Quincy because Quincy was good to her, not because of her parents.
At this time, Veronica suddenly asked Cecilia, “Have you mentioned divorce to Kolton yesterday?” She saw that Cecilia had been busy with Quincy’s matter and originally didn’t wanna distract her with her divorce matter.
But when Veronica saw that Cecilia was about to go out again, she finally couldn’t hold back her question anymore.
