Chapter 8 Don’t Piss Him Off
Cecilia picked up the document, put it into Iris’s arms, and took two photos with her phone.
“I’ll leave it to you then. If anything goes wrong later, it’ll be none of my
concern.”
It seemed like she had been exhausted and had no right to compete with
Iris.
Iris was favored by Kolton while Cecilia was nothing to him.
Despite the moderate temperature in the office, Cecilia felt a chill down her spine.
She took the elevator downstairs and left the office building. Bathed in the sunlight, she still couldn’t escape the cold.
Standing in the street, she cracked into a self–mocking and ironic smile.
Maybe they got a room in the hotel occasionally. Making out in the break room of the office was their usual practice.
Cecilia knew that Kolton and Iris had slept together. Even though she had seen more solid evidence, she shouldn’t have felt heartbroken again.
The agony was even harsher than when she thought of the fact that Kolton didn’t love her and hooked up with Iris.
Her phone rang abruptly, rousing her from the sorrow. She picked up the call. “Hello.”
“Cecilia, come back home right now,” Garrett ordered.

is afternoon.
Cecilia didn’t have to play the piano in the restaurant until Nor did she need to go to an interview, for it was Saturday today.
She didn’t want to drown herself in the suffocating grief. So, she replied, “Got it.”
Actually, she didn’t feel like going back home at all.

Instead of postponing the meeting, Kolton brought it forward.
On second thought, he felt it could take Cecilia down a peg to make her
wait.
The meeting could have ended within 50 minutes, but he prolonged it to
two hours.
When the meeting was over, it was already noon.
He took off the glasses, pinched the bridge of his nose, and headed to his office unhurriedly.
“Mr. Thompson, here’s a document for your approval!” The Finance Manager caught up with him with a document.
Trenton stopped him. “Mr. Thompson has important things to handle for now. Come again this afternoon.”
The Finance Manager looked embarrassed. He merely wanted to save the trouble of going to Kolton’s office.
Surprisingly, Kolton stopped and said, “It’s OK.”
He signed the document and returned it to the Finance Manager before he continued heading back to his office.
Kolton was wondering how sad Cecilia was. He hoped that she had better

not be crying. After all, he hated it most when a woman cried.
He was confident of having a hold over her.
As he pushed the door open, his eyes became indifferent immediately.
However, Cecilia wasn’t waiting for him on the sofa or before the window.
There was no space to hide in his office. So, Cecilia wasn’t here at all.
Suddenly, some noises came from his break room. His brows furrowed at
once.
He couldn’t help thinking, “What’s wrong with Cecilia? How could she go to my break room without my permission?
“I’ve been quite busy and vexed due to her. I can’t fall asleep at night, so I’ve drunk a lot of wine in my break room these days.
“If she saw that and thought I got hammered for her…”
“Kolton.” Iris walked out of the break room and met his angry eyes, asking in surprise, “What happened?”
Kolton quickly withdrew his hand and composed himself.
“Nothing. Why are you here?“.
Iris replied with a smile, “Of course, I’m here for your image. There will be a press conference this afternoon. I’ve had your clothes dry cleaned and your break room tidied up. You gotta take care no matter how busy you are. Me and the company are counting on you.”
“When did you get here? Was there no one else in the office?”
Kolton returned to his desk and fixed his eyes on a document at the corner of the desk. His eyes darkened at once.

As if thinking of something, he pursed his lips.
“No, but Trenton’s assistant told me that someone had delivered a document to you. I’ve checked it. It’s for the upcoming press conference.”
Iris followed him back and stood by his side. “I guess it’s your mom who had it delivered. It was so wretched of her to just leave the document here instead of bringing it to you in person. What if anything went wrong?”
So, Cecilia was here to deliver the document.
Kolton was burning with rage. All his thoughts about Cecilia turned out ridiculous.
And his imaginary confrontation with Cecilia during the prolonged meeting became a total joke.
He said with a stern face, “Wretched indeed.”
Back then, he married Cecilia because she was obedient enough.
But since that night, she had been challenging his patience again and again.
He felt she didn’t even know how to be a good wife!
“I’ll attend the press conference with you this afternoon. Just as usual, if you have any questions you can’t answer, just leave them to me. I’ll take care of them.”
Iris put the document in front of him. “Let’s have dinner tonight.”
Her voice was gentle, unlike her tone at work.
Kolton tried his best to shake off the negative emotions caused by Cecilia. He narrowed his sharp eyes and softened his voice, saying, “OK, you pick the place.”

He still believed that Cecilia would come back and beg for mercy, though he had got her wrong.
But the longer she stalled, the heavier punishment he’d impose on her.
Iris smiled and left the office for Trenton.
“Trenton, book a table for me and Kolton in the restaurant where he and Mr. Stewart had dinner before.”
Trenton immediately did as told.
“Thanks. I really appreciate your hard during the past few days. You may go home after work later. Kolton and I will go to the restaurant ourselves.” Iris supported her arms against the table with a decent smile.
“What?” Trenton looked up at her. “Did Mr. Thompson say so?”
Iris shook her head. “No, it’s my decision. He’s so obsessed with work. He may come back from dinner and make you work overtime with him. You can just go home. I’ve got your back.”
Trenton had quite a hard time these days, sleeping less than five hours per day.
So, he agreed at once. “Thank you then.”
Trenton’s supervisor was Kolton, but he knew that Kolton and Iris were close. Since Iris had said that, he decided to accept her kind offer then.

The Bradshaws used to live in a villa in the Eastern District.
Afterward, they went down and had no choice but to move to a three- story apartment.
The apartment was still worth a few million dollars in Sevarin but still

paled compared with before.

Cecilia was home but seemed distracted.
“Cecilia.” Jasmin had talked a lot to Cecilia but received no response. She was displeased. “Did you have a fight with Kolton?”
Cecilia collected herself and denied, “No.”
Jasmin looked her up and down, saying, “Then something must be eating you.”
“You won’t understand. Just no more asking.” Cecilia took out her phone and buried her head in it to avoid Jasmin’s questions.
“I won’t ask then, but you can’t pull a long face all the time. Kolton is already tired from work. If he goes home and sees your face, he’ll be annoyed. Particularly, he has nothing to do with your bad mood. You can’t let your emotions affect him and piss him off!”
Jasmin snatched her phone and threw it aside. “Did you hear me?”
