Liam didn’t come home for a full month, but his usually sparse social media was bustling with activity like never before. He had completely moved in with Ashley. Every night, he wouldn’t even join her live streams via call anymore; he’d just sit beside her, microphone open, chatting. As if afraid someone might miss it, he updated his Ins story daily with stream replays. There were also all sorts of trending couple challenges. Matching jackets, couple rings, matching stuffed animals. Fans were going wild, saying they were ‘couple goals‘ and so sweet.
in the past, let alone any activity on Liam’s social media, even a message from him would have me re–reading it carefully multiple times. But now, I didn’t pay him any attention at all. Looking at the flood of job offers on my laptop, I didn’t hesitate to submit my resignation to HR. Since I was still technically the CEO’s wife, the resignation process went incredibly smoothly, leaving me absolutely thrilled. By the time the paperwork reached Liam, I had already chosen a new company and even completed my onboarding.
This evening, coming home from work, I unexpectedly found Liam at home, who was supposed to be at the amusement park with Ashley. Not that I cared. It was just that Ashley’s ‘couple‘ act with Liam was so successful; several young women at the office discussed her every day, making it hard not to know.
I changed my shoes and entered. Liam followed me, his face thunderous. “Don’t you have anything to say to me?”
“No.”
Liam’s face grew even darker. “Is the company not good enough for you, or can’t I afford to support you anymore? You’re leaving to work for another company? Or did your online forums give you new ideas, planning to use this tactic to manipulate me?”
I looked into his eyes, speechless, and replied calmly, “Whether it’s divorce or resignation, it’s not about manipulating you. From now on, your business is none of mine, and you shouldn’t interfere with my life.”
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Liam clench his fists. But I wouldn’t overthink it anymore; I just went about my
business.
However, over the next few days, Liam actually started leaving the office early, driving several minutes out of his way just to wait downstairs at my company to pick me up. All the tacky stuff in the passenger seat had disappeared, replaced

with the car’s original setup.
Seeing me come downstairs, he, who had been leaning against his car smoking, immediately put out his cigarette and walked toward me, holding a bouquet of vibrant red roses. A colleague who was also leaving kindly teased, “Chloe, is that your husband? He’s so good to you, bringing flowers to pick you up every day.”
I smiled. “Still is, for now. But not for long.”
My colleagues chuckled awkwardly and quickly left.
Liam’s face was grim, but he still spoke up. “Chloe, I’ve had your position at the company saved. Whenever you want to come back, the spot’s there.”
I didn’t respond. My new job and new routine were a bit exhausting lately. Liam had no choice but to silently act as my driver.
As we neared home, his phone screen lit up with an incoming video call from Ashley. I noticed he wasn’t using her custom ringtone anymore. Liam fumbled for his phone, accidentally hitting accept.
Ashley appeared on screen, looking pitiful. “Big Brother, it’s bad enough you’re not here with me, but why did you even delete our Ins posts? Don’t you like your little bunny anymore?”
“My fans say they haven’t seen you in days, and they miss you so much. I don’t even know how to explain it.”
Liam clearly gave her a brush–off. “I’m driving. Can’t talk right now.”
He hung up the video call, nervously observing my expression, and quickly explained, “I haven’t been managing her live streams lately. And those Ins posts I put up earlier were just…”
“For work,” I interrupted. “I know. You’ve said it many times.”
“You don’t have to explain anything to me. I don’t care, and I don’t want to know.”
Liam fel! silent again.
