Alpha’s Regret CH 166

Alpha’s Regret CH 166

The bodyguard had been tracking me, and since Dane was driving a taxi, he didn’t pay much attention and answered truthfully: “Miss Aurora just got into a taxiseems to be heading toward the villa.”

Learning that I hadn’t been gone for long, Ferris’s tightly wound nerves finally relaxed slightly.

But he couldn’t understand why I had suddenly gone back.

“Do you know why she went back?”

“…I don’t know.”

The bodyguard was stationed outside and naturally didn’t know the inside story.

Ferris hung up the phone and immediately had someone arrange a vehicle, setting off for the villa himself.

On the road, he urged the driver to speed up while continuously calling my phone.

But I never answered, and the mindlink remained silent.

He gritted his teeth, his brows pressed low.

By this time, I had already arrived at the villa.

After saying goodbye to Dane, I stood at the door but didn’t go in for a long time.

Light rain fell on my shoulders, cold wind brushed across my faceand I stood under the eaves with emptiness in my eyes.

I didn’t know what was wrong with me. I had suddenly left, and then suddenly came back.

Maybe my heart was tired and just wanted to find a place that truly belonged to me to rest.

I don’t know how long passed when I heard a car engine behind me.

I turned to look and saw a low–key black Range Rover driving straight toward me.

Before I could react, the car door was pushed open with a “bang,” and Ferris rushed out, reaching me in a few steps and pulling me into his arms,

“Did you come to confront me?” I looked up at himmy eyes full of disappointment.

Ferris was stunned, his face full of confusion.

I didn’t answer the phone, left without notice, and yet I was questioning him?

He didn’t even have time to get angry.

I pushed him away and walked straight toward the villa. Rain dripped from my hair, my figure determined but exhausted.

“Half a month left,” my voice was cold and clear, “I think we shouldn’t waste our effort.”

Ferris’s expression suddenly darkened, and he quickly caught up, grabbing my wrist: “What do you mean?”

I stopped, turned around, and looked at him through the light rain: “I don’t know why you proposed being husba and wife for a month. But regardless of the reason, I think the outcome will be the same.”

“Let’s not waste time. Let’s separate now, okay?”

Ferris looked at me in disbelief, as if he didn’t recognize me: Is it because of… what I did to you at the manor?”

His hand slowly caressed my cold cheek, his fingertips trembling: “I promise, next time I will definitely respect yo

“Didn’t you come looking for me because of Linda?” I looked at him, full of confusion.

Ferris froze, his fingers stopping in mid–air.

Only then did he realize–the misunderstanding between us had grown too deep.

“Of course not.” His tone was unusually serious.

“So you’re not here to blame me?” I asked again.

He shook his head, his eyes more open than ever before: “I won’t blame you for things I’m not sure about.”

Hearing this, my heart shook.

Looking at his familiar face, I seemed to return to when I first met him, when he was also like this–calm, clear, determined.

But I didn’t easily believe him, just stepped back and said in a low but clear voice: “Then after you get things clear, come find me again.”

After saying this, I quickly walked into the villa and locked the door.

Chapter/166

My body was full of coldness. I walked into the bathroom, filled the tub with hot water, and soaked myself in it.

Warmth gradually enveloped my whole body, and I finally felt like I was coming back to life.

In the living room.

Ferris stood theresoaked through by the rain, his black suit clinging to his body, coldness penetrating to his bones.

His eyes were deep as he instructed the bodyguard: “Go find out clearly why I left from the maid who was cleaning the room.”

More precisely–why I was so angry.

“Yes.”

After the bodyguard left, Ferris stood in place without changing clothes.

Water sounds came from the bathroom, but he seemed frozen in place.

He realized he understood me less and less.

Before, no matter what happened, I would always tell him first.

But now, I chose avoidance, distance, silence.

Half an hour later, I came out of the bathroom wearing a bathrobe and immediately saw Ferris standing in the

room.

I was startled, then frowned: “How did you get in?”
