Chapter 10
Isabella’s POV
The Ward family honored the alliance made years ago. Until the Thorne Pack completely collapsed, we upheld our promise of support.
But I, Isabella Ward, will never again have anything to do with Kane. Not in this lifetime.
Fate had its own plans. The reputation of the Thorne Pack eventually crumbled beyond repair. Their specialty goods and trade credibility were destroyed. Whether in internal pack markets or external commercial alliances, they became a name everyone avoided. Former allies and resource suppliers began pulling out one after another, canceling treaties and withdrawing investments. Within a month, the Thorne Pack’s territory was officially reclaimed and the entire pack was dissolved.
As for us,
the Ward family never once broke our word.
Support, in our case, meant speaking fairly at council meetings, issuing public clarifications, and making sure no one twisted the truth.
That was all.
Ironically, this firm but limited approach only boosted our reputation. The Ward family came to be known as a symbol of integrity, the kind of leadership every werewolf pack respected.
Those who had distanced themselves from the Thorne Pack soon turned to us, offering new partnerships and proposing trade
agreements.
Under my father’s guidance, I began taking on more responsibilities. I became one of the key decision–makers in our core businesses. Managing the pack’s vast resource networks and trade routes kept me on my feet every day.
Yes, I was exhausted. But the sense of accomplishment was like nothing I had felt before.
The girl I used to the one who only cared about being Kane’s Luna, who spent all her time revolving around a single Alpha–felt like a
complete stranger now.
The world was so much bigger than any one person.
Opportunities were everywhere. Resources were abundant.
And there were countless capable Alphas out there, each more admirable than the last.
Why should I waste my life on someone who never deserved me?
Many years later, while accompanying a delegation to the outskirts to survey a potential trade route, I happened to notice a familiar
shop.
The little family of three wore faded clothes and squeezed into a tiny pastry stall no bigger than five square meters. Business seemed decent, with a steady stream of werewolves crowding around the counter.
The moment the man looked up and our eyes met, something flickered in his expression.
Recognition, perhaps. Then guilt.
He lowered his gaze at once.
I looked away as if I had never seen him.
Life does not follow the scripts people write,
There is no tragic hero who waits silently by the heroine’s door, offering roses after redemption.
Reality is much simpler.
We are not part of the same world anymore.
He probably could not even afford a studio apartment at the edge of Ward territory.
