Chapter 7
Kane’s POV
I turned toward Liliana as she backed away from me, step by step. My fists clenched, veins bulging with rage. “You’ve got some nerve.”
She panicked and bolted. I didn’t need to chase her. A flick of my hand and the guards hauled her back like a rag doll.
“You said you didn’t want Isabella to be humiliated. You said you’d destroy the footage yourself. This is what you call destroying it?”
“When did you start lying to me, Liliana?”
One of the enforcers looked up from his notes and asked, “Is this Miss Liliana? The auction host said you were the one who provided the original explicit materials. Do you have a response?”
Liliana turned to me, putting on that pitiful expression she always used. “Kane, you believe me, right? I swear I can explain.”
In the past, I would have believed her without hesitation. But this time was different.
“You can explain it to the enforcers too.”
She stared at me like I had slapped her. Then she started screaming. “Kane, stop pretending. You think you’re clean? Sure, I submitted the footage, but who filmed it? Don’t play innocent.”
She raised her voice and yelled toward the crowd. “Since the enforcers came in so quickly, none of you got a good look. That Omega in the video is Isabella. She was with all three Alphas, all of them.”
“Shut your mouth.” I slammed my hand on the table and stood up.
Liliana laughed hysterically. “Feeling guilty now? Trying to act like the doting mate all of a sudden? Where was your conscience when you and your little pack of brothers drugged your own Luna with pheromone enhancers and passed her around? You took the damn footage yourself.”
Silence fell over the hall like a storm cloud. Everyone stared at me. No one spoke, but their expressions said enough. I was still a high–ranking Alpha, but no amount of status could erase what they had just heard.
I slapped Liliana across the face, hard. But it didn’t fix anything.
Under everyone’s eyes, my pride finally shattered. My shoulders sank, and I slapped myself across the face before lifting both hands. “Liliana was right about everything. I deserve to be taken away.”
As soon as the enforcers escorted me out, the news spread like wildfire through every elite circle.
My parents went into overdrive, using every bit of influence they had to bury the scandal and get me out. They succeeded. But I didn’t want to leave. I deserved to stay behind bars. Maybe the punishments in pack prison would wash away even a fraction of my guilt.
In the end, I was dragged back to the family estate. The room still smelled like Isabella. And it also smelled like what Liliana and I had done. I dropped to my knees beside Isabella’s bed,
I had never hated myself more. What had I done?
Since our bond, Isabella had tried everything to make it work. She compromised. She lowered herself.
We were the ones who needed the alliance. But she made herself small for it.
At first, I had favored Liliana because I felt guilty for breaking the promise to protect her, That guilt made me blind, Blind to who my real Luna was. Who I had vowed to stand by.
I gripped my hair until my scalp screamed. Then my communicator buzzed.
A message from my assistant: [Alpha, the paternity test result is in.)
My hands shook as I opened the file. I had never prayed before, but in that moment, I begged,

When I saw the words “99% genetic match,” I nearly burst into tears. Thank God. Thank God the pup she was carrying was mine.
But before I could breathe, another report flashed on the screen.
Fetal termination confirmed.
Cause of miscarriage: blunt force trauma and emotional distress–induced uterine contractions.
Because of that kick. Because of my coldness.
I collapsed, clutching my head. That slap at the auction was nothing. It wasn’t even close to enough. I started hitting myself again and again. My cheeks swelled. Blood mixed with tears. I cried like a lost pup, howling in silence.
I opened every contact, every file, but Isabella’s number was no longer active.
In the end, with shaking hands, I called her father.
The line connected after just a few rings, but my palms were already slick with sweat. “Sir. I want to see Isabella.”
