Chapter 14 Talk in Her Sleep
Welburn stiffened and never expected Eileen would do that.
Sleeping soundly, Eileen forgot that she had filed for divorce from Fremont.
She thought she was sleeping on the sofa at home, so she mumbled. “So hard. Carry me back to the room.”
Probably she felt somewhat uncomfortable, so she subconsciously said. that.
He stooped to carry Eileen in his arms with the blanket.
Previously, when they were shooting, he had carried Eileen in his arms. She seemed to be lighter than three years ago.
Eileen was so sleepy that she didn’t even open her eyes on the way to the room. She really treated Welburn as Fremont.
She put her head against Welburn’s neck and her breath grazed across his collarbones, which made him blush.
As soon as Eileen was put on the bed, she grabbed the blanket and buried. her face in it.
The electronic curtain closed slowly, blocking the view outside.
Welburn closed the door and left.
Eileen’s phone kept buzzing in the living room. He took a glance at it and saw the caller was Fremont.
Three years ago, the contact was saved as “My Dear Husband”
Now, it was just Fremont.

Eileen had a good sleep and wasn’t fully awake yet. She rubbed her face against her pillow.
Feeling a bit cold, she opened her eyes abruptly.
Her pillow was supposed to have a brushed texture, but this was made of silk.
In the dark room, she smelt a faint fragrance of wood. It was Welburn’s scent!
Being on the strange bed, she seemed to be in another man’s territory and embraced by him.
She reached for the bed lamp and her face appeared pale in the dim light.
This was clearly Welburn’s bedroom. Even the bedding was black.
She remembered that she was waiting for Welburn and playing games.
It turned out that she had fallen asleep.
In a trance, she also complained about Welburn’s sofa and demanded to sleep on the bed.
Thinking of that scene, Eileen felt so horribly embarrassed!
She had no idea what to do.
Eileen lifted the blanket and got off the bed. Having thought it over, she folded up the blanket and then hurried downstairs.
It was quiet in the living room. A noise came from the kitchen.
Eileen looked over to see Welburn cooking in front of the counter. The smell of food lingered around the place.
“Welburn.” Eileen said with embarrassment. She meant to treat him to a meal, but she ended up sleeping on his bed.
Welburn washed the vegetables and turned off the tap. Then, he dried his hands before turning around.
When he saw Eileen, he said lightly, “I haven’t stayed here for a while. Only the master bedroom is equipped with a bed.”
“I’m sorry. I…I didn’t sleep well these days.”
“I understand.”
He put on an aloof look and said, “I’ve seen the news.”
Eileen met his meaningful eyes and asked, “Do you know who my husband is?”
He answered calmly, “Four years ago, I saw him visit you on the set.”
That was the eve of Christmas.
Fremont brought Eileen an apple from afar. It was snowing heavily that day. She was overjoyed. Dressed in the thin acting costume, she was running through the bamboo forest amidst the snow.
Welburn happened to be in the car, seeing her spring into Fremont’s arms with a beaming face.
Flakes of snow swirled and landed around her, accentuating her pretty facial features.

Eileen laughed with self–mockery, “So, you’ve known it.”
Remembering how she’d quit showbiz without a second thought and that Fremont and his lover dominated the headlines now, she couldn’t help but feel Welburn must see her as ridiculous, even pathetic.
However, he didn’t comment on that. Instead, he said, “It’s late now. Let’s eat at my place.”
He fixed his eyes on her feet. “But put on the slippers first.”
Eileen put on the slippers and found her phone on the sofa..
These years, very few people would call her.
She’d only receive calls from the delivery guy and Fremont, apart from Noelle.
On second thoughts, she found herself quite pathetic. It seemed that she didn’t even have a bosom friend.
She believed no one would find it out even if she died today.
Seeing tens of missed calls from Fremont, Eileen looked stern.
She didn’t understand why her life had become like this.
That night, after leaving home, she had nowhere to go except for the hotel.
Even if she just died outside, no one would care about that.
“Dinner’s ready.” said Welburn.

Eileen came out of her trance. She washed her hands and entered the kitchen to see if there was anything she could help with.
To her surprise, Welburn had made quite a nice meal. She didn’t expect he’d actually cook for her.
After all, actresses played plenty of tricks to approach Welburn. He was cold and indifferent. Kicking them into cold water was a common thing.
These years, Eileen had various cuisines. Actually, she preferred spicy dishes, especially kababs.
All the dishes on the table were her favorites.
J‘
Are…these dishes all made by you?” Eileen was startled.
“You don’t think so?” He passed a set of utensils to her.
Eileen speared a piece of meat. “I’m just a bit surprised. It tastes the same as what we had in Quelton. How did you make this?”
“I made it casually.”
Welburn rose and walked to the wine counter. “Would you like some wine?”
Eileen shook her head. “Suit yourself. Leave me alone. I can’t drink.”
He fetched a Romanée–Conti and wiped it with a towel. “What? Are you afraid that your husband might be mad?”
Eileen buried her head in the meat and answered nonchalantly, “None of his business. It’s just that I’m pregnant.”
Welburn’s hand froze in the air.
