Chapter 2
I never thought Philip was reborn, either.
But it didn’t matter.
As long as I burned his hair in the Gorman family’s grave, they would never rise again!
Andrew treated me like an honored guest, but the servants looked down
on me.
When they poured hot water on me on purpose, a man’s voice came from
the door.
“Ms. Tessier is a guest of the Gorman family. Is this how you treat her?”
I jerked my head up and locked eyes with him.
It was him.
He was Philip’s best friend, Jeff Fabre.
In my previous life, when I was buried alive, barely hanging on, Jeff went insane trying to dig me out with his bare hands.
He came looking for Philip. When he saw he wasn’t home, he turned to leave.
But before walking out, he said, “Tahlia, if you’re not happy here, come find me.”
His words struck something deep inside me. I tucked them away.
In the middle of the night, half–asleep, I heard stifled sobs outside my

window.
“Philip, slower…”
I jolted awake.
That voice–I knew it all too well.
In my previous life, after I got pregnant, Philip brought Kate Samson home just to spite me.
He didn’t even bother to hide it. They put on a full live, intimate show right in front of me.
Now, I pushed open the window and saw their tangled bodies again- Philip and Kate.
Seeing this scene, all I felt was a cold emptiness spreading inside me.
Philip came from a powerful family. Three generations of privilege made him picky about everything–food, clothes, even where he slept.
Yet here he was, flirting with Kate in the yard.
Kate’s face flushed, her voice coy as she asked, “Philip, what if Mrs. Gorman sees us? What then?“.
It was like he knew I was standing there. Suddenly, he turned his head and caught my gaze.
He wanted me to see this. He wanted to break me.
Then he spoke, serious and deliberate. “Kate, you’re the only one I’ve ever loved.
“I’d rather sneak around with you out here than touch her.
“She shamelessly moved into the Gorman’s residence. She better be ready

to live like a widow for the rest of her life.”
Kate giggled, snuggling into Philip’s chest.
“Philip, you’re so good to me.”
He held her tenderly, but when his eyes met mine, they were full of
contempt.
In my past life, the first time I caught them like this, I broke down. completely.
I didn’t love Philip anymore. Seeing this now, I feel nothing but numbness.
Just as I was about to shut the window, a hand stopped me.
Then Philip sneered. “Seriously? You can stomach even this?
“You’ll swallow any humiliation just to marry me.
“Even if you tricked me into marrying you and getting pregnant, I’ll still make sure you and that child suffer.”
My fists clenched. Nails dug into flesh.
I still remembered how he turned his back on me when I begged him to spare our child. The suffocating feeling of being buried alive was burned into my mind.
Philip stared at me, waiting for me to break down, to cry, to rage.
Instead, I forced the emotions down, grabbed my phone off the table, and started recording.
“The prince of Los Angeles, sneaking around with his mistress in the middle of the night, intimating in the yard. Wonder what the Gorman family will think when this leaks?”

You like putting on live shows?
Let me help you.
Kate panicked, covering her face and burying herself in Philip’s chest.
Furious, Philip lunged for my phone. “Tahlia, you’re crossing the line!”
Once I got the footage I needed, I locked my phone and stepped back.
“Sorry. I heard noises outside and thought it was a thief.”
