Chapter 8
After Andrew’s funeral was taken care of, Philip quickly called Tahlia’s
number.
This time, he was truly afraid and completely trusted Tahlia’s abilities.
He believed that if she came back before his illness returned, there was still hope to fix everything.
It wasn’t until his eighth call that she finally picked up.
“What is it?” Tahlia’s voice was cold, and Philip felt his throat tighten.
“Tahlia… Grandpa is gone…”
Tahlia didn’t sound shocked.
She had always wanted to see the Gorman family fall apart.
But Philip didn’t realize that. Holding the phone tightly, he spoke through the lump in his throat, “Tahlia, I made a huge mistake. I never should’ve pushed you away when you tried to be good to me.
“Please come back. If you do, I’ll forget everything that happened between you and Jeff. Let’s start over…”
Before he could finish, Tahlia cut him off without hesitation, “There’s no need. I find you disgusting.”
Philip hadn’t expected such a harsh rejection. Still, his fear of dying. pushed him to keep pleading.
“Tahlia, if you’re willing to come back to me, I swear I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for everything. Back then, didn’t you love me deeply?”
Tahlia stayed quiet for a moment. Then she answered slowly, “Philip. I lost my parents when I was little. You were the first person who made me feel safe. Back then, I truly liked you.”
When Philip heard those words, he thought things were finally turning around and nearly smiled until Tahlia continued speaking.
“In my past life, when I found out I was going to marry you, do you know how thrilled I was? I was so happy I cried. I felt lucky to be able to stand. by your side.
J’We were married for three years. I was always honest, kind, and caring toward you. But what did you do in return?”
Tahlia’s voice started to shake. “You brought Kate home all the time and slept with her in our bed! When I was eight months pregnant, you even buried me alive because of one of her childish jokes!”
A cold sweat broke out on Philip’s back.
He asked, “You… you’ve been reborn, too?”
“That’s right. Thankfully, I got another chance at life,” Tahlia replied.
After the call ended, Philip sat frozen and let a tear fall.
Kate, on the other hand, looked utterly aggrieved. “Philip, why did you go and beg that woman? Don’t you love me anymore?”
Hearing her sickeningly sweet voice again, Philip shoved her away roughly.
“Get out!
“Kate, if it hadn’t been for all the lies you told about Tahlia and if you hadn’t constantly talked badly about her, I never would’ve treated her that way!”
Chapter
Kate was stunned. She had never seen him act so cruelly before and felt deeply hurt.
“You’re yelling at me for her?
“But you never even liked Tahlia to begin with! You always thought she was scheming to get to the top. And now this is all my fault?”
With tears in her eyes, Kate turned and rushed out of the room, feeling deeply hurt.
That very night, a major incident shook the Gorman family.
