Chapter 10%
Kayla’s POV
A surge of happiness crushed through my veins as he held me close and kissed me. This day was the best day of my life, I have never felt this immersed happiness before. This is what it feels like to be loved dearly.”
Hardin had loved me for fifteen years without even knowing me that much, he didn’t think twice before marrying me even though he knew about my past with Vincent, the moon goddess must have loved me so much for this second chance.
We spent the rest of the day in each other’s arms, and we finally shared a bed.
The next day he took me to the Nicklaus mansion and I was received with a grand gesture, they all seemed happy to see me. Alpha Nicklaus couldn’t stop asking me what charm I used on his son.
After a while I got a call from my mother saying Vincent was at my family house and he was causing a commotion, I knew it was going to be a disaster if I didn’t get there quickly. Because my family doesn’t like him.”
I told Hardin and he offered to follow me, when we got there we saw Vincent outside my family house sucking, I almost felt pity for him but he brought it up upon himself.
What are you doing here? Vincent, please leave me alone… It’s over” I yelled the moment I saw him.
“Kayla my mother is dying!” he said and I paused in my tracks. “She wants to see you“>
“Kayla, please. That’s her last wish” he pleased
I didn’t know what to say but I couldn’t say no, his mother was good to me, she loved me like her own child, how could I say no to seeing her? Especially when she is dying.
“If you want to go…I will come with you” I heard Hardin’s voice behind me.
“No. Hardin, i don’t want to burden you with my issues” I said, I don’t want him to feel like I might leave him for Vincent.
“You are not a burden to me…I love you Kayla” and that was all it took for me to melt into his arms.§
Vincent just stood there staring at us in awe, it was evident he didn’t believe someone else would fill his place in my heart. Our gaze met and I averted it immediately. I told him to leave and assured him that I would come to the hospital as soon as I could.
My family wasn’t in support when I told them I was flying back to Virginia to see Vincent’s mother but when they heard Hardin was coming with me, they all relaxed.
“What are you doing?” Hardin asked when he noticed my attention was on my phone.”
“I was searching for any available flight to Virginia” I replied
“No need for that… I already arranged for a private jet to take us there” he said casually.
I turned to look at him, surprise evident on my face. “What? I told you would do anything for you” he smiled and gave me a peck on the cheek.
A few days later we landed in Virginia and headed straight to the hospital, I didn’t want us to take long as we had a lot to prepare for the wedding.
Immediately we got to the hospital I saw Vincent outside waiting for us but Ava was nowhere to be found, I couldn’t help but wonder what happened between them but that’s none of my business.
I approached him and he led us to his mother’s room. When we got there Hardin decided to wait outside since she wasn’t familiar with him.
I went in and saw her lying on the bed, her eyes sunken, skin pale.
“My daughter! You came”
