“The Triad group was tied to Kian, but the brothel could be a front. Maybe it is another way they are getting victims. In through the front door.” Cyrus states as Damon, he and I have this meeting sifting through ideas after coming up with what we think could potentially be a lead.
“They were tied to the beta here and not murdered by me because they weren’t pack members and they were more prominent shifters. After they resurfaced, it would have caused more harm than good if I killed them. It wasn’t worth the hassle, now I wish I would have.” I sigh, looking over the file of things we know about Sam Crawford, Miles Northstar and Ben Sutton, the members of the Triad Group. A group that has apparently started brothels. It can’t be a coincidence.
“Remember, all the shifters in the building swore they were there willingly. It didn’t seem they were being untruthful.” Damon reminds us.
“Maybe they weren’t. Maybe they were being truthful but that doesn’t mean they aren’t getting victims that way. We can’t rule that out. Or maybe we need to ask the right questions.” I sit staring out of my window, pondering what those questions may be.
“What are the right questions?” Cyrus asks. My thoughts exactly.
“Maybe we put a guy on the inside. Go in the brothels.” Damon suggests and I turn to him.
“If they are all there willingly, and we go in looking for she–wolves, it will be suspicious asking for unwilling she–wolves when there are willing ones around.” Cyrus counters.
“Not if we go in looking for heats. As far as we know they are just brothels. There wasn’t anything about offering heats.” Damon answers, making a good point.
“It couldn’t be me or Cyrus. We would need unmated wolves only in this. If it works, it will link the Triad Group to the ring. It will give me a reason to kill them and dig up some more dirt on who is involved in the ring. Get as many sifted out as we can.” I start to ponder Ayla’s words from what seems like forever ago.
“Ayla told me that Kian told her he was going to get a large pay day and that he was to get her out of this pack. We know Della paid him to fake a mate bond, but she wouldn’t have had that kind of money. Not without help. What if Della was involved with the ring?” I decided to follow this bunny trail for a minute, see where it takes us.
“What if she paid him to fake a mate bond and he went out on his own and took it a step further and agreed to sell her to the Triad Group. Maybe the pack tie was Kian all along?” Damon suggests with his hands up in the air in front of him signaling that he doesn’t agree with defending her but sees the point.
“Yes, I believe he is tied to the trafficking ring but there is still someone else…you’re forgetting Della and Kian are both dead.” I can see the tie between Kian and the ring, but Della would be a stretch. She was a bitch, but I don’t think she would agree to sell another shifter, not after my sister.
“So, we go in with unmated shifters. See where it leads us?” Damon asks, to confirm the plan.
“Maybe we should sit and do surveillance on the brothels first to see who is utilizing them. It could also offer us blackmail in case we need it in the future.” I suggest. I like to stack as many cards in our packs favor as possible.
“We could, but do we really want to do this right now. We are doing surveillance on Stevens and the other Alphas in the alliance. Plus, Raven’s heat is going to be here soon. Within a day or two, we are already spread too thin on surveillance. Add being down me on top of it. It sounds like the start of a clusterfuck.” Cyrus sighs and I think about what he said as well.
There’s a shit–storm possible any action we decide to take.
“We either move now or wait and move later, either direction runs the risk of losing more lives.” Just because you put one of your guys on the inside doesn’t mean their covers don’t ever get blown.
It happens and it sucks when it is your order that puts them in that situation.

“Let me circle back to this in a second. We still have the unanswered question of who in our pack is linked to Stevens. Kian has two brothers. Can we dump their phones and link them to the Triad Group?” I question, needing more time to make this decision.
“If they are using a burner to Stevens, then they would more than likely do the same to the Triad Group.” Cyrus suggested.

“Good point. So, we can’t do anything phone wise until Tyler is done on his end and he is still working on the other Alphas in the alliance.” I lean my head back against my chair, my brain feels like it is about to explode.
“And we can’t pull any of his team either.” Damon reminds me of how thin we are spread in surveillance. We really need to add some new shifters to that area of expertise.
“Alright so we can’t move forward on Kian’s brothers yet, so we are back to do we go in the brothels now or wait?” I weigh the pros and cons of each decision. “We have no idea how long her heat will be?” I ask Cyrus and can see him stiffening a little. His wolf probably doesn’t want other wolves to think about his mate in heat.
“No. She’s and Alpha she–wolf…I’ve never encountered one so I have no idea, and it is her first so it could be longer.” Cyrus nods his head with a little grin telling me he is thinking of his mate quite fondly. We better wrap this up soon.
“We should review the unmated shifters we are willing to let in on this information. We aren’t sure who we can trust now. If we tell the wrong one in hopes of sending them inside the brothel, they will blow our cover.” I look over to Damon, knowing he is unmated, trusted and in my inner circle.
“Me?” He points to himself and questions.
“Him?” Cyrus asks at the same time Damon questions as well.
“Yes. He’s unmated and I trust him.” I answer them both, not sure why this is a problem.
“He’s a total clean freak. He can’t handle being in one of those buildings. All those cooties…..” Cyrus suggests while pointing his thumb toward Damon.
“I’m not a clean freak. I like cleanliness and organization. Two things you desperately need.” Damon interjects. Cyrus knows Damon’s back story, so I never understood why he isn’t afraid to remind Damon of why he has his issue in the first place. Maybe hearing Cyrus call him a “neat–freak” doesn’t make him think of his upbringing, but it reminds me, I would think it would remind him.
Maybe Damon doesn’t care if it does.
Apparently, Cyrus doesn’t either. Maybe he just thinks Damon needs to just get over his issues. Like Cyrus never got over his mother leaving him.
But none of us would tell him that.
