Chapter 33
As the guy kept talking, his voice started to tremble like he was about to cry.
Narissa sighed. “Tell me the address.”
“You’ll come? Oh thank God! The address is…” The guy rattled it off.
Narissa hung up right after, already getting ready to leave. But then she remembered the security system at the Everton
estate.
Narissa couldn’t exactly walk out the front door–not if she wanted to avoid drama. And she was in a hurry. So, without hesitation, she scaled the wall and made her escape.
“Honey, did you just see something fly past the window?” Amanda was sitting at her vanity, applying skincare, when something outside caught her eye.
But when she looked up again, nothing was there.
“You haven’t been sleeping well these days because of Narissa. You’re seeing things,” Hector said as he walked over and opened the window to check. There was nothing outside.
They would’ve never guessed that Narissa had been clinging to that very wall just moments before.
And Narissa hadn’t expected her parents to be that alert either. Luckily, they didn’t see anything.
Once the window closed, Narissa dropped down smoothly, then scaled the outer wall and left the villa.
Meanwhile, Hector and Amanda were talking about how to make it up to their youngest daughter.
They totally unaware that their daughter was sneaking out over the wall nearly every day.

The race was being held at a small amateur car club on the southern edge of Sinney City. As soon as Narissa left the house, she called a cab straight to the location.
The moment Narissa stepped out of the car, the same guy who had called her grabbed her by the arm. “Thank God you’re here, seriously! I’m freaking out over here.”
“What’s going on inside?” Narissa shook off his hand and subtly straightened her clothes.
“It’s… just come and see for yourself. If that pro driver hadn’t shown up late, Jaylen would’ve been forced to race by now,” the guy replied.
Narissa motioned for him to lead the way. But just as they approached the entrance, a few guys suddenly came up behind
them.
These guys were full of attitude. Before Narissa and the other guy could step inside, they pushed past and blocked the door.
Someone said, “Move it. Don’t get in Mr. Conor’s way.”

Another one added, “Yeah, back off. If you bump into Mr. Conor, you’re gonna get a bullet to the head.”
Narissa and the guy were shoved to the side so that this so–called “Mr. Conor” could strut through first.
As they passed by, the group sneered and even spat in their direction with obvious contempt.
Narissa’s face instantly darkened.
“Forget them. Come on,” the guy urged, clearly more worried about Jaylen. Once those thugs had gone inside, he quickly pulled Narissa in.
Inside the club, the racetrack was surrounded by a noisy crowd. Narissa didn’t see Jaylen right away.
“He’s over there. Their people have him held,” the guy said.
As he spoke, the rowdy crowd suddenly went quiet. Several people turned to look at Narissa. As soon as they saw her, a few of them burst out laughing.
“This is the pro racer you brought in? Man, I actually got nervous for a second thinking it was someone legit.”
“Turns out it’s just some kid… no, wait a little girl.”
“Damn it.”
The mockery came in waves as the crowd parted. A few guys shoved through to get a better look.
At that moment, Narissa finally spotted Jaylen. His arms were pinned behind him, completely restrained. The guys rushing over were his buddies.
“Jaylen, I brought Narissa. Don’t worry–she’s here. She’ll win this race for you,” the guy said.
Jaylen looked at Narissa, feeling nothing but shame. He thought, ‘I’m a grown man, and not only have I failed to protect a girl, I’ve even dragged her into this mess to save him. It’s humiliating.
“Let him go,” Narissa said coldly.
The gang looked at each other, then all burst into laughter again. Clearly, none of them saw her as a threat.
“Oh man, today’s been wild. A little brat like you thinks you can give orders? Hey, this isn’t a playground. Run home to your mommy.”
“Actually, don’t go. You’re kinda cute. Come here, baby girl, let big bro show you something nice.”
“Yeah, we’ve got good stuff to show you. And better stuff to eat.”
Their words were nothing but filth–mocking and disgusting.
Jaylen couldn’t take it anymore. He shouted, “Gilbert! This is your fault. Who told you to bring her?”
The guy–Gilbert–hung his head, full of guilt. He said, “Jaylen, I-”
“I can handle this myself. It’s too dangerous here–get her out of here,” Jaylen snapped.

“I can’t! She’s the only one who can save you right now. She’s the best driver among all of us,” Gilbert said, turning to Narissa. “Please, goddess, will you-”
Narissa nodded. The moment she did, Gilbert lit up. “See, Jaylen? She agreed. We’re gonna win this.”
Their little exchange only made the thugs angrier–especially the amateur racer Jaylen had beaten earlier.
He slapped Jaylen across the face. “You think I’m some nobody off the street? You insult me by bringing a woman to race for you?”
Jaylen couldn’t fight back with his arms held down. He said, “Stuart, let her go. This has nothing to do with her. I’ll race.”
Jaylen just couldn’t bear dragging Narissa into something this dangerous. If he had to lose a hand, so be it–at least it wouldn’t involve her.
Stuart didn’t say a word. He just waved a hand.
Immediately, a group of huge guys stepped forward and surrounded Narissa and Gilbert.
Stuart leered at Narissa, rubbing his chin like a creep. He said slowly, “Since you’re already here, you’re not leaving. Otherwise, how do I keep face?
“Hey, baby girl. You wanna save him? There’s another way, Real simple. Just have a few drinks with us–keep us entertained, and maybe I’ll be in a good enough mood to let him go.“”
