Chapter 41

Narissa sneered. “This world always runs on rules made by the strong. The result today was fair and square.”

“Let’s go,” Narissa said to Jaylen and the others.

With that, Jaylen, Gilbert, and the others quickly followed Narissa out of the club.

Maybe it was because of what Narissa had just done, but not one of Nelson’s men dared step forward to stop them.

Stuart lay on the ground, howling in pain. The agony was so intense he was about to pass out, but he kept screaming anyway. “Nelson, it hurts. My hands are ruined. They’re gone. You’ve gotta avenge me–kill that woman.”

Nelson snapped back to his senses and kicked Stuart hard. “Useless! This whole mess is your fault.”

Even with a deadly glint in his eyes, Nelson clearly couldn’t swallow the shame of getting shown up by some random girl.

By the time Narissa and the others got out of the club, they were safe.

“Holy crap, Narissa, you’re insane. When I’rewatched the footage just now, I was blown away by that spin move you did to save him.” Gilbert stuck close to Narissa, basically her number–one fan now.

“Yeah! That scene was crazy. I thought your car was about to fly off the track, but then you knocked theirs off instead,” another said.

“And not just that–you dragged their car back onto the track too. That was legendary,” the third one added.

Everyone kept talking over each other, full of praise for Narissa. Only Jaylen stayed silent.

Gilbert nudged him. “Jaylen, say something. If it weren’t for our queen here, you’d be missing both hands by now. You’d better thank her.”

“Thank you, Narissa.” Jaylen came to a stop.

“Thank you, our queen.” The others followed.

Jaylen glanced helplessly at his friends, then turned back to Narissa. “To be honest, we heard a lot of bad stuff about you before… and we believed some of it.”

“Yeah, people said it so convincingly that we just…” Gilbert scratched his head, embarrassed.

Jaylen nodded. “Now I get it. That stuff was all lies. There’s no way someone like you could be some spoiled useless heiress.”

“Right! Narissa you’re the best driver I’ve ever seen. I’m officially your number–one fan now.” Gilbert trailed behind Jaylen, echoing every word with over–the–top admiration.

The two of them were practically in sync.

Narissa just shrugged lazily. “Got lucky, that’s all.”

Chapter 41

“Lucky? No way that was just luck. You crushed it. Come on, Narissa, take me as your student?” Gilbert almost dropped to his knees.

The moment he said that, Jaylen and the others‘ eyes lit up. They dropped down beside him, all begging to be Narissa’s disciples.

They thought, With a teacher like her, how could we not? If we mastered even a bit of her skill, we could compete in international races someday.

You guys really want to learn?” Narissa suddenly stopped and narrowed her eyes.

“Yes! Yes!” They all answered in unison.

Narissa smiled. “Fine. I’ll teach you.”

The whole group immediately huddled together, celebrating like a bunch of little kids.

The sight made Narissa’s lips curl into a small, rare smile. Their goofy dynamic reminded her of Octopus.

Back then, a bunch of lonely kids like them had come together to the Military Intelligence Office, depending on each other to survive.

Sometimes they felt like friends, sometimes like comrades, and sometimes like family.

What are they doing now?‘ Narissa wondered.
