Nelson was startled. “How do you know?” He had come with the malicious intention of kidnapping Narissa.

He thought. This bitch cut off Stuart’s hand and embarrassed me in front of my guys. In this world, reputation is everything. She practically killed me today. How can I let go of my grudge?

Nelson sneered. “Fine. Since you know, there’s no point in hiding. Boys! Come out and grab her!” He gestured sharply.

Several more thugs emerged from hiding, wielding pipes and clubs. Narissa scanned them dismissively. “And if I decline your invitation?”

“Then, young lady.” Nelson snarled, “you leave us no choice. Get her!” He was determined to take her back. ‘Mr. Robles said alive. Didn’t say she had to be in one piece, he thought.

Narissa saw through Nelson’s malicious intent, but she didn’t take these few men seriously. As Nelson’s men brandished their weapons, she did something utterly unexpected.

She clasped her hands calmly behind her back. “You,” she stated with chilling certainty, “are not my match. All of you.”

Laughter erupted from them. “Hah! You kidding, young lady?” someone sneered.

“Sure, you’re tough, and yeah, you’re a hell of a racer–but fighting? That’s no joke,” another jeered.

“Bet I could take you down myself with those skinny arms!” Nelson boasted, utterly dismissive of any threat Narissa posed.

A cold smile touched Narissa’s lips. She beckoned Nelson with her finger. The sheer, dismissive challenge ignited his rage. “You’re asking for it!”

As Nelson grabbed a steel bar from his man and charged at Narissa, she suddenly threw a pebble, hitting Nelson’s knee. He crashed onto the ground, landing hard on his knees with a pained grunt.

Narissa tilted her head, a mocking glint in her eyes. “So? You’re kneeling now. How exactly are you planning to take me down now?”

Snickers erupted from Nelson’s men, quickly stifled. Feeling humiliated and furious, Nelson spat, “You really got a death wish?”

“You thought you could cut me off by taking shortcuts and ambushing me, right?” She laid bare Nelson’s entire plan.

Nelson gaped. “How do you know? You–Shock turned to smugness. “Well, since you know you’re cornered, surrender now. I might let you go with some dignity.”

Narissa’s smile turned predatory. “Did you even bother to look me up before this little stunt?”

“Of course I did,” Nelson snapped. “You’re Narissa Everton, the long–lost Everton second heiress. But the Evertons? Small fry in Sinney’s big pond. Mr. Robles isn’t scared of them.”

He added with a sneer, “As for you? The rumors aren’t exactly flattering.”

“Exactly,” Narissa said, her voice as sharp as her blade. “That just shows how stupid you are.”

Chapter 43

“Who are you calling stupid?” Nelson roared, lunging again, pain forgotten in his fury.

But this time, Narissa was faster. She grabbed Nelson’s arm, twisted it, and then kneed him in the groin. With just two simple moves, she dislocated his arm and almost crushed his testicles.

When everyone saw Nelson’s desperate attempt to protect himself, they took a step back. When Narissa looked at them, they quickly covered their crotches, afraid that they might be the next ones to suffer.

“Seems your men understand the situation better than you do,” Narissa observed dryly, looking down at Nelson, now curled into a whimpering ball.

“Y–you fight dirty! Hitting below the belt!” Nelson managed to gasp out between moans.

“Seems like you haven’t been unfair with your numbers,” Narissa laughed. Maybe she was in a good mood tonight, so she was willing to chat with him for a bit.

Nelson was on the verge of tears. He failed to capture her and almost lost his manhood. He had no one to blame but himself and nowhere to cry but the cold, dirty pavement.
