“Not like my kids–they were specially admitted to the world’s top university last year. When they graduate, they’ll be true global elites.

“My daughter’s best skill is the violin. She’s even performed alongside masters in the world’s top music halls.”

After praising her daughter, she pulled her son forward.

She continued, “My son is best at equestrian and swimming. Last year, he took first place in Primaland’s equestrian competition.

“This year, he won a bronze medal for third place in the world swimming championships. Pretty amazing, right?”

Narissa munched on a plate of strawberries, enjoying the show.

Narissa thought, ‘Wow, Mom’s friend really knows how to brag. But if I remember right, the guy who took third place at the world swimming championships looks nothing like her son.‘

The real third–place swimmer was from Primaland. However, this woman’s son was a mixed–race guy who was slightly chubby.

They were clearly not the same person.

Seeing that Amanda still didn’t react, the woman looked even more pleased with herself.

She said, “Oh, would you look at me, always bragging about my kids and not even sparing a thought for your feelings.

“But hey, don’t be jealous. I mean, your older daughter is nothing special, and your younger one is just that maid you picked up from outside.

“However, at least both your kids get to stay by your side every day.”

She even shot a mock–complaining look at her own kids.

She continued, “They’re just too outstanding–everyone’s practically fighting over them, wanting them to learn more and more, so they hardly have any time left for their poor mom.

“But you know, it’s what they call a sweet burden. Oh, silly me! I forgot that you’ll never get to experience that in your whole life.

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have said something so hurtful.”

Not once did the woman use a single curse word, but every sentence was like stomping Amanda’s dignity right into the ground.

Cressida couldn’t take it anymore and snapped back, “You’re way too full of yourself!

It’s bad enough you dress like some tacky upstart with no taste, but I didn’t expect your terrible sense of style to be passed down to your kids, too.

“Just look at the way they’re dressed. Anyone who didn’t know better would think they’re from a third world country.”

“Excuse me, what did you just say?” the woman snapped, her anger barely contained.

Cressida retorted sharply, “I said you’re all nothing but a bunch of country bumpkins.

“Having no sense of style isn’t really your fault, but having no manners and dragging your whole family’s reputation through the mud? That’s on you.”

Her words were so biting that the woman looked like she was about to explode.

At that critical moment, Narissa darted to Cressida’s side, grabbing the woman’s wrist and giving her a firm shove.

The woman said smugly, “Amanda, is this how your daughters treat others? Absolutely no manners.

“You’d better take them home and teach them some discipline before they embarrass you any further!”

She thought she’d finally found a chance to put Amanda down.

But to her surprise, Amanda yanked her daughters behind her and stood her ground, staring the woman down without flinching.

Amanda shot back, “Beatrice, I’ve tolerated you long enough. Say whatever you want about me, I don’t care, but you do not get to insult my daughters.

“Your kids are rude and useless. If you don’t want people talking about them, maybe don’t parade them around for everyone to see and laugh at.”

Amanda let out a cold chuckle, then turned to Narissa and Cressida. “Don’t let it bother you, girls. It’s her nature to be rude, but we’re not like her. We don’t stoop to that level.”

A few people nearby couldn’t help but snicker.

Narissa was honestly shocked. She never thought Amanda, who always seemed so gentle, could turn into such a badass.

Beatrice Blanton was shaking all over with rage, her face flushed as she snapped, “Go ahead and insult me all you want, Amanda!

“The nastier you get, the more obvious it is that you’re just jealous I landed a better husband than you!”

Amanda was just about to clap back, but Narissa smoothly cut in before she could, her eyes glinting with mischief.

Narissa said, “Married better? That’s funny, because as far as I know, the wife of Primaland’s third richest man isn’t named Beatrice.

“Pretty sure her name is Jennifer Guerrero. She’s the president’s daughter. So tell me, when did his wife suddenly become you? Or did I miss the memo?”
