Chapter 67

In other words, there was probably just one assassin lurking outside right now.

That was way easier for her to handle.

She’d been worried that if things got too noisy, it might lead to all sorts of unpredictable trouble–like exposing her identity as Fox, or even alerting her parents.

But with only one enemy to deal with, she could finally relax.

Even if the attacker was as skilled as Bastien, she could go toe–to–toe with them for hundreds of rounds without anyone ever noticing.

Besides, after just a few exchanges, she already knew this assassin was nowhere near as good as Bastien.

“Dad, Mom, go to bed early, okay? And unless it’s really important, don’t go wandering around tonight,” Narissa reminded them as she walked them back to their room.

Hector couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, you! What kind of trouble do you think your mom and I could possibly get into at this hour?”

Narissa shot her parents a playful wave and closed the door behind her.

No one noticed the tiny bit of white powder Narissa had just let fall from beneath her fingernails.

It was only small amount, but once catalyzed by a chemical process, it would release a unique aroma that would send Hector and Amanda straight to dreamland.

Once her parents were settled, Narissa even made a special trip over to Cressida’s room.

Cressida opened the door, saw it was Narissa, and said irritably, “What do you want?”

“Sis, remember to close your window before you go to bed tonight, okay? Looks like it’s going to rain,” Narissa said.

“Boring!” Cressida huffed, slamming the door shut.

Little did Cressida know, Narissa had already scattered that sleep–inducing powder into her room.

Narissa simply dripped a bit of water through the crack in the door, and as soon as the water mixed with the powder, a fragrant aroma quickly filled the room.

It didn’t take long before Hector and Amanda, along with Cressida, all drifted off into a deep sleep.

Narissa thought, ‘All done!”

Narissa headed back to her room, opened the window, and just stood there at the window, looking out at the dusk.

The next second, she hopped right up onto the windowsill and jumped straight out.

But instead of landing on the lawn below, she twisted in midair, hooked a thin cord to the edge of the roof, and pulled herself right up onto the villa’s red–tiled rooftop.

Chapter 67

As Narissa perched nimbly on the rooftop, she immediately spotted a shadowy figure standing atop the neighboring villa.

The figure visibly hesitated upon seeing Narissa, then swiftly vaulted over to land on Narissa’s roof.

The two stood locked in a tense standoff, only a few feet apart.

Narissa crossed her arms and drawled, “So, you’re the one who threw those poisoned needles?”

“So it really was you who messed up my plans. You’ve got a death wish!” the figure snarled.

This guy was anything but merciful. The moment he realized Narissa was the obstacle to his mission, he lunged at her without hesitation, going straight for the kill.

With agile reflexes, Narissa slipped past the danger, nimbly caught his wrist, and twisted his arm behind his back.

The guy staggered forward a couple steps, caught himself, then whipped around and tried to nail her in the back with his elbow.

But Narissa had set him up with that last move–she already had her next two attacks lined up the second she dodged.

She kicked his elbow aside, and while he was still reeling, she used the momentum to spring up and nailed him right in the face with a sharp kick.

The man in black realized things were going south and tried to save himself with his other hand, but he had no idea just how powerful Narissa’s kick really was.

There was a heavy thud as she kicked him clean off the roof.
