Chapter 70

Panic washed over Beatrice’s face as she shot to her feet, shouting, “Kids, get up. We’re leaving now!”

She couldn’t wait until tomorrow. They had to escape tonight.

“Damn it, call a doctor!” the mercenary yelled in desperation.

Unfortunately, Beatrice had already taken her two children and bodyguards and slipped away into the night.

Early the next morning, Narissa came downstairs and saw her parents coming back from outside. They seemed to be talking about something.

“What’s up, Mom, Dad?” Cressida asked before Narissa could even open her mouth.

Amanda shook her head as she spoke, “There was a break–in at one of the villas last night.

“The thief was a foreigner, but he somehow managed to break both his legs and arms. Pretty miserable.”

“A thief? Wow, I didn’t think this place was actually that unsafe…” Cressida blurted out, looking genuinely surprised.

“Yeah, I heard it happened at the house where my friend Beatrice lives. That thief was seriously unlucky. He probably got wrecked by her two bodyguards,” Amanda added.

“That’s rough!” Cressida clicked her tongue.

Even though Amanda said all that, she was clearly in a great mood. After all, the person she couldn’t stand had finally packed up and left.

Narissa really enjoyed soaking in the hot springs, but Cressida preferred to splurge at fancy places.

While their parents took Cressida out to enjoy some luxury, Narissa decided to hit the hot springs on her own.

When she finally stepped out of the hot spring room, she felt lazy and languid all over.

All she wanted at that moment was to head back to the villa and sprawl out on the soft bed for a good nap.

Narissa walked out, towel in hand as she dried her hair, not even bothering to check if anyone else was in the hallway.

Them, she ran straight into a wall of muscle.

‘Damn, these muscles are rock hard!‘ Narissa thought.

Rubbing her forehead, Narissa looked up.

Then, she thought, ‘Bastien? Why on earth is he here?‘

She instinctively glanced back over her shoulder.

The hot spring room was still behind her. She was indeed still on vacation.

Chapter 70

She wondered how she ended up bumping into Bastien in a place like this.

‘Of all people, I have to run into him here!‘ Narissa grumbled inwardly.

She instinctively drew back the foot she’d just lifted.

‘Is it too late to bail now?‘ she wondered.

“Narissa, what a coincidence.” To her surprise, Bastien spoke up first, leaving Narissa no chance to pretend she hadn’t seen

him.

After a second of internal struggle, she could only force a smile and greet him.

“Hey, Bastien. Fancy running into you here,” Narissa said, forcing a casual tone as if bumping into him was no big deal.

She scoffed inwardly, ‘Yeah, right, what a coincidence–my ass. There’s no way this guy’s here for the hot springs. Who shows up in a suit just to relax?‘

“All done with my soak, so I’ll leave you to it. My family’s waiting, so I’ll just head out first,” Narissa said while flashing a playful walking gesture with her fingers.

She was trying to breeze past him like any ordinary girl.

But just as they brushed past each other, Narissa was hit with a sudden jolt of alarm.

She thought, ‘There is an ambush.

And it isn’t just one person. I can sense we are already surrounded.‘

Her hyper–sharp instincts screamed that at least two snipers were lying in wait at her three and seven o’clock.

If she took even half a step forward, she’d be completely exposed in their kill zone.

Narissa cursed inwardly, ‘Damn it!

“That bastard Bastien really hasn’t dropped his suspicions about me. He’s definitely not someone you can fool easily.

Now Narissa was in a real bind. If she just walked forward like nothing was wrong, Bastien might actually have his men open fire on her, just to see how she’d react.

After all, he had a track record for this kind of thing.
