Chapter46
I couldn’t help but feel jealous with how easily they could feel their mates, all of my close pack mates having already claimed their mates for all to see. I knew they had taken into consideration of how much it was taking out of me to hold back my wolf who wanted nothing more than to mount my mate at every opportunity he had to do so, the pack making sure not to make any comments around her which would risk triggering my possessiveness which would only make it harder for me to control my inner beast. He wanted to protect his mate of course, but he thought that the only way to do so was to mark her so he could keep track of her and make sure she was safe. I knew she wasn’t ready for it so I held back for her sake, I would never force myself on her!
It worked like that for every mated couple, though alphas felt it stronger. I knew that as soon as I sank my canines into that slender neck of hers that I would be filled with both my emotions and hers, feeling them in such detail that I would always know what mood she was in. It was designed for me to make sure that she was always safe and happy around me; though I had no idea what it would be like if the female could shift as well since it would affect her inner wolf as well as the males. See this was the problem, how little we knew of female shifters and while we had hoped Stacy would fill us in we couldn’t trust a word that came out of her mouth and the whole pack knew it.
‘It won’t be too long until she’ll cave mate, we all see how she looks at you‘ Liam stated before my head was filled with his memoires, showing me using the pack mind of the times he had watched us. I couldn’t help but give a wolfy grin when I saw the adoration which was present in her eyes as she looked at me, how much she seemed to be in tuned to me as he showed me a picture of her curled up on my lap as we all watched a film at the pack house. It was kind of shocking when she had told us all that she enjoyed watching horrors over romances, mentioning how she couldn’t never grasp on why you would want to watch a film that left you in tears. Did I mention how incredible my mate was?
‘Yea Hunter, just image she’ll be under you soon enough‘ Josh smirked causing my mind to immediately be drawn to just that. Mm, I couldn’t wait until she finally caved. I knew I was starting to have an effect on her, letting my touches linger a little more than necessary, letting my arm brush against the swell of those rempting breasts of hers…..
“Dude I know you’re the alpha and she’s your mate and all, but that’s my fucking sister!‘ Jacks thoughts slammed into my brain causing the tension to break as I could hear the mental laughter of the pack as they couldn’t help but release wolfy chuckles that sounded far from normal in their animal forms. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes, Zoe was my mate god–dammit so I should be able to think about her when I wanted! But unfortunately I could kind of see where he was coming from; for his sake I will try and tone it down.
“Thanks mate‘ his thoughts hit me again causing me to roll my eyes at how relieved he sounded,
“I’m not making any promises‘ I stated in my head as we continued to head to the school, my mates emotions still worrying me but it was nice to have a distraction so I didn’t completely loose it I could tell that Jack was pleased as well, both of us thinking that Stacy was still there so if something was wrong she would be able to let us know via the pack mind. I could sense that she was phased; hopefully she was guarding the woods like I told her to.
She had wanted to come of course but I had denied it much to the relief of the pack, she was fast yes but she was to put it bluntly stupid when it came to instincts. She ignored them basically. When her wolf told her to flee she stood her ground and when her wolf told her to fight she either froze or then decided to run when we actually needed her help. It was because of this that she was a reliability and it was better that she just stayed away, it was too risky having her close to the fight since we would always have to be looking out for her which mean we were less concentrated on the battle. So with that I ordered her to stay around the school, an order which she couldn’t refuse even if she tried to. It was built into your woll to want to obey an order from an alpha; a wolf lived for three things; to mate, to protect your home and to obey an alpha.
‘Still, thanks” he replied with relief making me roll my eyes at his tone, I could only picture what it would look like on my wolf form but I couldn’t be sure.
