It was about another hour later, both of us calming down yet again as we tried to get our breathing under control. I couldn’t wipe the cheesy grin off my face even if I tried to, never had I felt as happy as I felt right now. I had a mate, a strong and protective mate who had just told me that he loved me. What else could a girl want? Sure a good family would be nice but I wasn’t going to be picky, that ship had sailed a long time ago. I had given up on having my family on my side, I had my mate and that was more than enough for me to be ridiculously happy.
I didn’t know how long we were sitting there until Hunter broke the peaceful silence, neither of us caring that we were as naked as the day we were born as we laid down by each other’s side on the soft grass beneath us. It made me relieved that he had been smart enough to pounce on me at a clearing, if he hadn’t of done then it would have been more than a little awkward trying to get down and dirty if you were constantly rolling onto thick roots or hitting trees. Yep, I have to say I am definitely relieved that he had pounced on me here.
“What was the whole incident about with your parents Zoe, you weren’t exactly very clear with telling me what happened?” Hunter asked causing me to sigh, but to be honest I found it easier to talk too just him then in front of everyone else. Not because I was scared, but because I knew that hopefully he wouldn’t judge me.

I stated, opening one of my eyes just in time to see him shake his head.
“No, they were pretty much closed off” he stated causing me to roll my eyes, how surprising I thought sarcastically.
“Well that’s hardly surprising. What do you want to
brought me merely with his presence.

asked, keeping my eyes closed as I soaked in the comfort that my mate
“Everything, I don’t like you hiding things from me” he stated, I could picture him frowning but I didn’t open my eyes to check.

“I didn’t purposely do it, but it just never came up” was my reply, already knowing that I was going to come clean with everything right now to get it out in the open.
“Tell me” he replied softly, running his fingers over my bare stomach making me smile despite myself.

“I was walking to school when they pulled me aside, I have no idea how long they were waiting for me but it’s pretty sad when about it. Anyway they threatened me, told me to leave you or else. They threatened Chloe, I dealt with it” I stated in a matter–of–fact tone, not prepared for the silence that followed.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” he answered gruffly, his harsh but controlled tone making me snap my head in his direction as I blinked .rapidly at his tense features and clenched jaw.

“I mean it Zoe, why didn’t you tell me? I’m not just your alpha but your mate, your boyfriend, your lover. Why didn’t you tell me?” he asked with a raised brow, his jaw still tense even as I ran my fingers over it in what I hoped to be a soothing gesture.
“Technically, we weren’t lovers until a few hours ago” I joked, trying to lighten the mood by failing miserably.
“Zoe!” he growled, a sigh falling from my lips as I threw my leg over his waist to straddle him, feeling his body react instantly to our new position and proximity.
“Fine” I sighed, “I was being honest with you though Hunter, I just never felt the need to bring it up until now. Never would I have thought my parents would have the guts to do it, then again if I didn’t know what they were capable I wouldn’t think they had the guts to toss a young child out on the streets either” I soothed, seeing him relax slightly much to my relief as his hands soon placed themselves on my hips as he looked up at me.
“I can’t believe Lactually thought they were good people” he stated in an annoyed tone, clearly frustrated that he hadn’t been able to work them out until I had come along. I grinned, though it was quickly wiped off with my next comment.
“Your parents aren’t going to believe it Hunter, they are elders of the pack after all and while I am your mate I am technically nothing but a rouge” I stated causing him to frown, I rolled my eyes.
“Don’t talk yourself down baby, you’re the alpha female now, my alpha female” he muttered almost to himself, his fingers rising up to brush against my mating mark sending a shiver of delight through me. I couldn’t help but grin.
