On the way home, Lucius kept reviewing the medical report his assistant had just delivered.[]
He read “minor trauma with no abnormalities to organs or bones” about six or seven times before finally relaxing.
Isabella casually grabbed the report and tossed it into her purse, her tone light.[]
“I told you I was fine, but you insisted on dragging me to the hospital this morning. Happy now?”
“I needed to see the test results with my own eyes to really believe it. A little extra time is worth the peace of mind.”
That made sense. Isabella nodded, then remembered something important.[]
“When did you get the surveillance footage from Ronan’s house?“]
“This morning.”
Lucius answered matter–of–factly, but Isabella looked puzzled.[]
“He doesn’t know?”
“He doesn’t need to know. Everything he owns has to go through me anyway–properties, cars, investments, all of it.“[]
Hearing this, Isabella suddenly had a strange thought.[]
Before she could grasp what it was, the moment passed, leaving only an odd feeling lingering in her chest.[]
But since everything was resolved now, she didn’t dwell on it. Instead, she enthusiastically asked if Lucius wanted to try her cooking.]
He looked at her with surprise, genuine curiosity in his voice.
“You can cook?”
The twenty–one–year–old Isabella certainly couldn’t.[]

It should have been a beautiful sentiment, but Isabella felt a pang of sadness.

That stumped Isabella completely.
She hemmed and hawed without giving a real answer, then frustratedly wiped her sooty hands on his shirt.[]
“I heard you liked fish, so I thought… If I’d known you wouldn’t appreciate it, I wouldn’t have bothered.“[]
Lucius gently cleaned her hands while coaxing her.
“Anything my wife makes, I’ll love–even burnt. Want me to have someone bring more fish? I can help you watch the heat this time. We’ll definitely get it right.”
With that encouragement, Isabella’s confidence returned, and she rolled up her sleeves again.]
After several hours of effort and sacrificing three more innocent fish, she successfully produced a milky–white fish soup.
Lucius immediately took a photo and posted his very first social media update:[]
“My wife’s first homemade fish soup.“]
Within minutes, it had 99+ likes and comments.
“Wait, who made what? Isabella can cook now? Since when?!“]]
“So jealous! Someone please make me fish soup!“]
“I want some too! Next time let her show off her skills for us!”
