Gavin frowned at me, then said coldly after a moment.
“Miss.hmm… I have no idea who you are. I’m a gentleman, but that doesn’t mean I’ll tolerate you keep trashing my wife and son over and over again. Our company’s legal team doesn’t mess around!”
Lila was pissed, her voice cracking with disbelief Dad, what the hell are you talking?! You seriously don’t even know me and Mom anymore?!”
Everyone burst into laughter.
“Little girl you’re really getting carried away with this act. You better grab your mom and get out of here before Mr. Cooper decides to press charges. Brightstar Corporation isn’t something you mistress can mess with!”
Lila grabbed Gavin’s sleeve, practically begging.

Savin shoved his daughter’s hand away without a second thought. She stumbled back with a look of hurt on her face.
Meanwhile, Vivian locked fingers with Gavin, shooting me this totally smug look.

tight after I said it, Gavin’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly. Then my phone started buzzing.
Vanessa, I already explained. I’m being Leo’s dad for just one day. Can’t you cut the kid some slack?”

They stuck Gavin and Vivian in the VIP section, with all the school big shots and parents kissing their asses.
Gavin held his chin high, looking down on everyone with smug satisfaction written all over his face.
On the other side, Lila was already positioned at the starting line. She gave me a forced smile, and I waved to cheer her on.
Suddenly everything went to hell. Leo came out of nowhere, charging right into Lila’s lane and stuck his leg out – Lila was thrown forward with brutal force, caught completely off guard.
I bolted over there. My baby was twisted up in pain, sweat beading on her forehead, both knees scraped to hell and back.
My heart clenched in agony.
And the real culprit stood there, looking thoroughly pleased with himself, while Leo burst into triumphant laughter.
“That’s what you sluts get! Bet you won’t try that crap again!”
I was about to slap him Gavin intercepted me, positioning himself protectively in front of them.
“Knock it off!Kids mess around – you’re not seriously gonna throw a tantrum over it, are you?”
I was shaking with rage “Mess around? Are you blind? Look how bad she’s hurt! That little asshole did it on purpose!”
Vivian just smiled and pulled out a stack of cash, throwing it right at Lila while staring me down.

All the parents were eating this up, looking at me and my daughter like we were dirt while sucking up to Gavin and Vivian.
