Ir. Wilson walked over to me, looking down his nose, his voice all sharp and threatening.

“I don’t like picking on people, but the company and Mrs.Cooper’s reputation matter. Just admit in front of everyone and the livestream that you were up to no good today, apologize to my Vivian, and I might let this slide.”
Then he dropped his voice so only I could hear.
“Vanessa, this is your last chance to save face, Don’t be stupid. You think anyone at the company gives a damn about you anymore?”
I shot right back: “Gavin, you’re such a piece of shit! You know damn well what really happened!”

“Mr. Cooper’s being way too kind! This psycho doesn’t deserve it!”

That’s when a whole convoy of stretch limos started pulling up at the school entrance, taking up half the damn street.
“Holy crap! What the hell is going on? This can’t be real!”

All the car doors opened at once, and out stepped a bunch of people in designer suits.
The same jerks who’d been attacking me were now staring with their mouths hanging open.
“That’s Brightstar’s Chief Operating Officer – he was just on the financial news!”
“That’s Brightstar’s head legal counsel – Harvard grad, made his name with some huge international case right out of law school!”
Tve seen that guy at business conferences – he’s a big shot in talent management!”
