Chapter 5
Gavin was staring me down hard, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles were white. Vivian didn’t notice a damn thing – she was too busy grabbing onto Gavin and fixing her hair.
“Gavin, hurry up and introduce me to them!”
Vivian dragged Gavin over to these total VIPs, and he put on his best fake smile.
“Hey everyone, what a surprise! To what do I owe the honor?”
They completely ignored him, leaving Gavin and Vivian standing there looking like idiots as their enthusiasm turned into pure embarrassment.
They walked straight up to me”Ms. Vale, we’ve got everything you asked for.”
That word “Ms. Vale” hit like a bomb going off. All the parents and teachers just stood there looking totally lost.
“Ms. Vale? Who’s Ms. Vale?!”
“Did I hear that right? These big shots you only see on TV are calling this crazy woman by her last name?”
Their faces said it all they couldn’t process what was happening.
“This can’t be real! They’ve gotta find the wrong person!”
Vivian watched these powerful people she usually kissed ass to treating me with total respect. Her delicate face became pale.
Gavin’s eyes were locked on me, a vein pulsing in his temple.
Mr. Wilson, who’d been acting all tough just minutes ago, was shaking so bad he could barely hold his papers. His voice was trembling.
Boss, what are you doing here?”
The head legal counsel standing next to me gave him a cold look “Attention!I’m not your boss. From today, you’re not Brightstar’s lawyer anymore.”
Mr. Wilson looked like he was about to cry”What did I do wrong?”
Seriously? You just served legal papers to the company owner. What do you think you did wrong?”
When Mr. Wilson looked at me again, he looked absolutely terrified.
That’s when everyone finally got it.
She really is Brightstar Corporation’s owner.”
Holy shit, how is this possible!”
After I finished reading the documents they handed me, I looked around and nodded.
My assistant immediately got the hint. All the major news outlets he’d brought started setting up their cameras.
Then a huge banner unfurled.
It read “Brightstar Corporation Press Conference.”
Some of the people who’d been trashing me were already sweating bullets, trying to sneak away. I had security surround everyone.
I smirked “What’s the rush? You guys love drama, right? This is just getting started – stick around!”
Those small business owners I’d called out earlier completely lost their shit. They looked at each other, then dropped to their knees,bawling.
“Ms. Vale, please gave me a chance! We were totally blind! We’re just nothing-please!”
1 glanced at them but kept my focus on Gavin and Vivian’s faces.
No rush 111 deal with them one by one.
I grabbed the mic and faced the cameras:
Today, Brightstar Corporation related rumors has been trending non stop, including some total lies. As Brightstar’s owner, I’m holding this press conference to set the record straight!”
First off, there are rumors online accusing me of picking fights and trying to seduce Gavin Cooper and calling me a homewrecker, but the truth is Gavin’s been cheating with Vivian Yarrow and trying to smear me to cover it up!”
I held up mine and Gavin’s marriage certificate for everyone to see.
When that red document got blown up on camera, everyone went dead silent.
‘She’s actually got a marriage certificate!”
I can’t believe someone would bring their mistress to a public event and show off their affair! No wonder Vanessa exposed them!”
We totally got it backwards. It’s all Gavin and Vivian’s fault – those shameless pieces of shit!”
When people looked at Gavin now, all that worship was gone, replaced by pure disgust.
he media turned their cameras right on Gavin and Vivian for close-ups.
ivian panicked and covered her face, screaming”Stop filming! You’re violating my right to publicity!”
he tried to hide, tried to run, but my security team wasn’t messing around. Nobody was leaving until this press conference was over!
avin completely lost his cool and rushed toward me.
That’s enough! Vanessa, this is a private matter-get these reporters out of here,understand?!”
e dropped his voice to a threatening hiss “Keep this crap up and I’ll divorce you!”
calmly watched Gavin’s pathetic meltdown as the head legal counsel handed me the divorce papers.
hen I slammed them right into Gavin’s face, saying each word slowly You got it!”
Starting today, the Vale family is kicking out this backstabbing kept man!”
