Chapter 6
When Daniel returned to the villa in despair, Violet still knew nothing.
This woman who had ruined my entire life was still putting on her innocent and fragile act, trying to nestle into Daniel’s
embrace.
She said, “Daniel, if Harper really is dead, what will happen to me and the baby? I could die, but I must protect our child.”
Daniel usually loved Violet like this. He adored seeing Violet so madly in love with him that she’d lost all reason.
But today, his gaze toward Violet was ice–cold.
“Are you really sick? Are you really pregnant?” Daniel stared into her eyes as he asked.
Violet stiffened for a moment. “Of course, Daniel. Why would you ask that?”
Daniel wasn’t actually stupid. He just hadn’t wanted to doubt Violet before.
Truth was, Violet’s acting was terrible. So terrible that the moment Daniel suspected her, she revealed her true nature.
Daniel let out a self–mocking laugh, closed his eyes, then opened

He said, “None of that matters. Even if you lied to me, it doesn’t matter. What matters is–were you really the one who gave me money and helped me through my difficulties that Christmas?”
Violet’s eyes kept darting away. “Yes. Of course I was.”
Though she was still affirming it, her guilty expression had already exposed her completely.
Daniel suddenly exploded, grabbing her by the throat. “Violet, I’ve been so good to you–why did you lie to me? It’s all because of you. If it weren’t for you, Harper wouldn’t have died. You b*stard! I’m going to kill you!”
His grip suddenly tightened, and Violet’s breathing immediately became labored.
She looked through tears at this man who had loved her so deeply just days ago, struggling desperately. “No, you married Harper to get the Morrison family fortune in the first place. Even without me, you would have destroyed the Morrison family and destroyed Harper. This has nothing to do with me.”
Daniel froze, loosening his grip slightly.
Violet slumped to the floor, coughing violently.
“Yes. I’m the one who killed Harper. I’m the real culprit.” Daniel

muttered to himself, looking completely unhinged.
Violet thought she’d escaped disaster and breathed a sigh of relief.
She forced out a smile. “Daniel, don’t be like this. Besides, you never liked Harper anyway. Now that she’s dead, no one will come between us anymore. Didn’t you say not marrying me was your life’s greatest regret? Why don’t we get married right away and have a child that truly belongs to both of us?”
Her voice suddenly stopped.
Violet looked down to find a dagger buried in her chest.
The Daniel before her looked like a desperate madman, completely insane.
Daniel said, “I’m the one responsible for Harper’s death, but you can’t escape either. Atone for your sins with your death!”
Violet only had time to open her mouth and make a single sound before closing her eyes forever.
Even in death, she couldn’t understand why Daniel, who had always indulged her, would kill her over what she thought was just a harmless little lie.
After Violet died, Daniel calmly cleaned up the scene with unusual composure.

He was now the head of the Morrison family with enormous power. As long as he wasn’t caught red–handed, no one could prove he was a murderer.
While cleaning up the blood, Daniel accidentally knocked over the villa’s mailbox.
A letter fell out.
Daniel picked it up and looked at it, then froze completely.
Because the envelope bore my name.
Writing letters to each other had always been our little way of expressing love.
It started that Christmas summer. After making me angry, Daniel couldn’t appease me no matter how hard he tried, so he wrote me a little note.
The note read: [Miss Morrison, I know I was wrong, so I hereby formally apologize. If I do this again, you may use this note to find me and punish me as you see fit.]
This note was tucked into the Morrison villa’s mailbox.
Daniel had always lived at the Morrison villa, so our rooms were very close to each other.

But he still used this romantic method to apologize to me.

He made me laugh, and I wrote back: [Mr. Kelly, I’ll reluctantly forgive you. But you must remember to write me a letter every day.]
From then on, we began writing to each other, from the lush summer through the snowy winter.
We wrote about the sun rising and the moon setting, about autumn frost and winter snow, and even more about the tender, deep love of our youth.
When did the mailbox gradually become neglected?
It seemed to be when Daniel began taking control of the Morrison family.
He had approached me with ulterior motives from the very beginning, and his heart belonged only to Violet.
So naturally, once he had enough power, he no longer needed to please me.
At this moment, the letter before Daniel’s eyes was the last one I had written before my death.
In my fading consciousness, I had begged Frankie to help me slip it into the mailbox.

Frankie cursed and cried as she did what I asked.
When Daniel opened the letter, his face went pale.
