Chapter 19
After Isabella finished her report, she happily went upstairs to pester her grandparents to tell her stories.
Laurel leaned against the kitchen door, laughing so hard that she couldn’t
catch her breath.
Grace Grace looked at him with confusion.
After Laurel had finished laughing, she embellished the events that had just happened and told Grace.
Grace paused for a moment and then burst into a light laughter.
Shaking his head helplessly, he said, “This child…”
Laurel arched her elbow: “You had Bella go to deliver it at the time, and I was a little worried, after all, that’s the child’s biological father, I didn’t expect…”
As they spoke, they couldn’t help but burst into laughter, leaning back and forth.
Grace had a smile on her face, but she couldn’t hide the bitterness in her heart.
“Bella was such a sensible child. Antonio rarely took care of her in these years, and she never cried or made a fuss. It can only be said that the current situation is Antonio’s own doing. If he had spent more time with his daughter, Bella wouldn’t have this attitude towards him.”
Laurel noticed that the atmosphere was not right and quickly changed the
subject.
“How to spend the next few days? Suddenly, without having to deal with annoying relatives during Christmas, I feel a bit idle and don’t know what to do.”
Grace thought carefully for a moment.
“Take your parents to Canada for a good stroll. It’s not easy for them to come here, or do you have something you want to play?” He turned his head and looked at her.
Laurel shook her head, “No, let’s go shopping, it’s nice,” she looked up at the upstairs, her eyes revealing a hint of envy.
From a young age, his parents divorced and they both formed new families, neither of them wanting her.
I stayed in this house for a few days and was then sent to that house. I stayed there for a few days and was sent back again.
Laurel grew up in this kind of wandering and when she turned 16, she left, and from then on, she was all alone
Children who are used to wandering have no home.
She rushed out of her original family, and now she is doing well. However, when she encounters a truly happy family, she still feels like a mouse peeking at others‘ happiness, wanting nothing more than to hide back in her own nest.

The next day, Grace tidied up and found Laurel still sleeping.
She opened her eyes and forcefully pulled her out of the dream she was
- in.
“Didn’t we say we were going shopping today? Why are you still sleeping? Get up quickly.”
Laurel’s mind was still fuzzy, and she blurted out, “Isn’t it your family going out for a stroll? What am I going for?”
One sentence nailed Grace in place.
Joanna passed by and overheard Laurel’s words, her heart aching for a moment. They both knew the child’s family situation, and over the years, she had…
It was too bitter.
Joanna turned and entered the room, saying, “What, you don’t recognize me as your mother now that you’re in Canada?” In fact, she had long treated Laurel as her own daughter, no different from Grace. It was just that after Grace got married, she grew distant from Laurel, and their connection to this family became less.
Now Laurel was the one who was pinned down.
“Mom“?”
“Back then, when Grace distanced herself from you, we, as an old couple, did not do the same. Were you so angry that you even refused to acknowledge us?”
Laurel sprang up from the bed and jumped to Joanna’s side, grabbing her
arm.
“There is nothing, so where are we going today? Mom.”
Joanna glanced at her messy hair and wrinkled pajamas, and she smacked

herself on the forehead.
“Go and freshen up quickly, once you’re done freshening up, you’ll know where to go.”
Laurel happily ran off to freshen up.
Joanna’s few words made the negative emotions of several people disappear without a trace.
A few people quickly tidied up and dressed before leaving the house.
Antonio heard the noise from the next door and quietly went out to follow.
