Chapter 24
Grace came to Antonio’s ward with an IV drip in her hand, and a glimmer of hope could be seen in Antonio’s eyes.
Laurel hung Grace’s IV drip and walked out of the room with Isabella, leaving the two of them to talk alone.
Grace sat down and struggled to speak.
“Thank you for last night. If it weren’t for you, perhaps I would have…..”
The words were not finished when Antonio interrupted.
“No, I wouldn’t let that kind of thing happen.”
Grace felt a bitter taste in her heart as she said, “Are you okay? Did the wound hurt a lot?”
Antonio originally wanted to say it didn’t hurt, but his words came out with a tone of grievance: “It hurt.”
Grace was at a loss and didn’t know how to respond.
Antonio noticed her embarrassment and decided to change the subject.
And you? Did you get hurt?
“The doctor said it was just a minor skin injury, nothing serious. After finishing today’s drip, you can be discharged and go home.”
“Oh, that’s good,” Antonio said in a gloomy voice, not knowing which sentence had made him unhappy again.

Grace pondered for a while and realized that he might think that if he went home, he would not come to the hospital again. Suddenly, he felt defeated and then spoke up again.
“I would come to take care of you during the days you were hospitalized, until you were discharged.”
Antonio’s eyes brightened and then dimmed.
So, once he was discharged, Antonio thought, “If only this injury were a bit more severe, then I could stay in the hospital for a year or so, just like before.”
Grace had no idea what Antonio was thinking. She lowered her head and tried to sort out her thoughts, but the more she tried, the more confused she became. Eventually, she decided not to say anything.
The two of them sat there staring at each other, until the nurse came in to change the medicine, breaking the suffocating atmosphere.
After Grace finished her drip, she left the hospital.
After returning home and packing up, I moved into the hospital under a different identity.
Antonio was seriously injured, almost fatally, and he couldn’t be left alone. As a result, the two of them stayed in the hospital for a long time.
Grace used to bring him food every day, and Antonio enjoyed it very much.
Grace gave him a massage every day, and Antonio enjoyed it without a
care.

Chapter 24
Finally, when the doctor made rounds, he told the two of them that they had fully recovered and could be discharged tomorrow.
Grace breathed a sigh of relief, and Antonio’s disappointment was evident in his eyes.
In the evening, Grace sat on the edge of the bed and peeled an apple for Antonio.
Antonio finally voiced his lingering questions and awaited the final verdict.
“After being discharged, everything went back to how it used to be, not disturbing you, not appearing in front of you…”
Grace took a deep breath and exhaled the breath that was stuck in her chest.
She had been thinking a lot these days, and she didn’t want to go back to the past anymore, nor did she want to torment Antonio again.
“Antonio, let’s co–parent Bella together.
Antonio’s eyes flickered, shimmering with anticipation.
“Later on, you could freely meet Bella and you don’t have to avoid me either. I won’t intentionally hide from you either. We can just be normal friends, but I won’t interfere in your life and you shouldn’t meddle in mine, okay?”
Antonio’s gaze dimmed again, “So, you still don’t believe me, do you?”
Grace reluctantly explained, “It’s not that I don’t believe, it’s that I don’t love anymore, Antonio. I don’t want to live in the past anymore, I don’t want to confine myself to a family. Can you understand?”

Antonio wanted to argue something, but he opened his mouth and then swallowed his words, nodding blankly.
The two of them fell silent once again.
Love is the sinking of free will, without any other emotional colors, it is not pity, it is not sympathy, love is just love. It is when I met you, my heart started beating rapidly, and this scene has been deeply etched in my
mind ever since.
Grace did love Antonio in the past, but this love did not survive the test of marriage and was extinguished. Afterwards, her heart no longer beat for
- it.
She gave a faint smile and got up to leave.
The sun was shining outside, and from then on, it was her new life.
The end.
