She knew Dwayne was forced to marry Dorothy, but since she wasn’t in a position to defy Aliyah, there was nothing she could do.]
Knowing Dwayne, she figured he’d agree readily.]
After all, as an outsider, she could tell he didn’t care for Dorothy at all]
Dwayne stopped signing, a trace of impatience flashing across his eyes. “It’s between me and Dorothy. You don’t have to worry about it.”
Carolyn was stunned.]
His reaction totally surprised her.]
“You think I want any part in this?” She tapped the desk, making a loud bang. “Dwayne, now that it’s become a trending topic, Dorothy will know soon. You think she’s gonna be OK with that?“]
Dwayne fell silent. After quite a while, he said in a flat tone, “Yes, she will.“[]
His stubbornness riled Carolyn up. “Deal with your own mess. Don’t expect me to help!“]
After she left, Dwayne picked up his phone and opened Twitter, his gaze slightly icy.[]
Then he made a call. “Tell the PR Department to take down the trending topic.“]
Dorothy had to perform two surgeries back–to–back and had no time to check her phone at all.]
It was already the afternoon when she walked out of the operating room.[]
She took off her scrubs, massaged her stiff neck, and went back to her office. Sensing something, she looked up instinctively and saw a tall, beefy figure standing at the door.
Upon seeing his handsome face, she paused slightly.[]
She thought, “Why is Dwayne here?
“Well…
“For Sonia, probably.
She braced herself and walked over, assuming he’d pretend not to know her and walk away.
To her surprise, he didn’t move at all.
