She had to be patient.[]
At this, she let go of his arm and said apologetically, “I only found out today. It never occurred to me that someone would take a photo of us when you picked up Brenden with me. I’m so sorry for any trouble this may have caused you.“[]
Dwayne said flatly, “No matter what, Brenden isn’t my son. I can’t always prioritize him unconditionally. I’ve already hired a nanny, and she’ll pick him up and drop him off from now on.“]]
She detected his implication immediately.
But she didn’t dare to voice any objections at all.]
Lowering her head, she gritted her teeth and forced a smile. “Alright…“]
After he left, she went back to her office and swept all the documents off her desk onto the floor in a rage.
She thought, “Dwayne is still guilty toward me, but he no longer loves me that much![]
“Is he really with someone else?“]
At this, she quickly picked up her phone and made a call, her expression sinister. “It’s me. I need you to look into someone for me. Her name is Dorothy Acosta.”
Late at night, Dorothy finally got off work.
She went back to Tranquility Apartments. Upon entering the door, she saw Dwayne sitting on the sofa in the spacious living room, flipping through TV channels with the remote repeatedly.[]
His suit jacket was draped over the back of the sofa, and his tie was loosened around his collar.
Stopping at the entryway, Dorothy was puzzled.[]
He had barely come back for the previous months.[]

Dwayne hadn’t been paying attention to the TV at all. Upon seeing Dorothy, he immediately turned it off, and the living room fell silent at once.
He placed the rernote on the coffee table and then looked at her. “I didn’t have dinner.“]
Dorothy was stunned, thinking, “Did I mishear that?]
“Isn’t he back to sign the divorce papers?”
