Chapter 27
Chapter 27
A week later, the trial began as scheduled.]
Because Olivia’s company had already made a name for itself, and because the case had caused such a stir, the trial was live–streamed online.]]
Liam’s lawyer presented all the evidence, aggressively trying to trap me with his words.]
Liam sat next to him, silent, not daring to look at me.]]
And Hannah sat in the audience, her eyes once again filled with the same smugness and defiance as before.[]
As if she was sure I would lose.
But when Olivia presented the evidence we had prepared, one by one, they were both stunned.[]
At the same time, Olivia also produced a recording.
In it, the conversation between Liam and Hannah was crystal clear.[]
Everyone in the courtroom learned of their scheme, that Hannah had sold company secrets for money, causing the company not only to miss out on a development opportunity but also to be saddled with a huge fine.]]
In the recording, Hannah was sobbing uncontrollably.[]
“Mr. Moore, I’m still young. And… I’m pregnant with your child. Do you really want our child to be born and find out their mother is in prison?”
“I know I was wrong. You can hit me, you can yell at me, you can even kill me, but please don’t leave me.“[]
Then came the sound of a slap.[]
I was more inclined to believe that Hannah had grabbed Liam’s wrist and hit herself in the face.]
After all, she was an expert at playing the victim.[]
Hannah sat in the audience, the smugness gone from her face, which was now a pale, bruised color.
She couldn’t sit still anymore.[]
“Impossible! This recording is fake!“]
“They doctored it!“]]
She flailed wildly, trying to grab the recording, but she was restrained by the staff before she could even get out of her seat.[]
“Fine. I’ll help you. But this is the last time.”
After a moment, Liam’s calm, cold voice came through.]
Chapter 27
The entire courtroom looked at them with a mixture of shock and disgust.[]
In the live stream, many people also started cursing them out.[]
I looked at Liam. He seemed to have expected this outcome. His face was pale, but he didn’t make any drastic movements.]
The judge asked Liam to confirm the authenticity of the recording and whether he had any evidence to refute it.
The whole courtroom looked at him, waiting for his next move.[]
Hannah’s eyes were bloodshot. She urged Liam to clarify the facts, to say that the recording was fake.]
But Liam just stood up and slowly walked toward Hannah.]
The staff, seeing his calm demeanor, didn’t stop him.[]
Hannah, thinking he was coming to discuss a strategy with her, breathed a sigh of relief. Her face lit up with excitement as she lowered her voice.
“Zimo, quick, think of a way to clear our names. Tell them the recording is fake.“]
“Be rational, like before.“]
“You’ve already broken up with Claire. Don’t be soft on her…“[]
Before she could finish, Liam suddenly raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face.
