Yes, I hadn’t died.
That arrow was shot by the queen. After I fell into the water, the Chancellor rescued me downstream.
This was their plan.
The Chancellor was a glitch in this game. After he died and refreshed, strangely, he still retained his previous memories.
The queen had been in this game from the beginning. Unlike ordinary NPCs, she could think and wonder why she was repeating the same things day after day.
She had also seen the prince brutally kill various maids and guards several times, throwing their bodies into the moat.
This prince was too violent. Neither she nor the Chancellor liked him, so they planned to replace him with a new prince.
“Only by replacing him with a normal person can we complete the true love task and gain real freedom.”
The Chancellor sent me back home. My stepmother and stepsisters seemed to have collective amnesia, starting to mistreat me again as before.

me again as before.
Meanwhile, the queen announced a ball.
The prince naturally assumed I had refreshed and would meet the brand new “No. 40” at the palace tonight.
The Chancellor prepared a gorgeous dress for me, an exquisite pumpkin carriage, and sparkling glass slippers.
When I entered the ballroom in the carriage, all eyes turned to me. The prince was the first to invite me to dance.
We embraced, spinning round and round under the crystal chandeliers to the waltz music.
The prince held my waist tightly and whispered in my ear.
“Hello, my dear girl–would you like to take a stroll in the garden with me?”
I nodded shyly, letting the prince take my hand and lead me towards the quiet, dark rose bushes in the distance.
As agreed, the Chancellor was supposed to be waiting in ambush with soldiers. Once I distracted the prince’s attention, they would shoot him with an arrow.
But I waited and waited. The cool night breeze rustled the bushes, but there were no other sounds nearby.
The prince turned my face towards him.
“So distracted–what are you waiting for?
“My dear–No. 39.”

The shy expression froze on my face as my scalp tingled, my whole body feeling like it had plunged into an ice cave.
The prince burst out laughing.
“Let me guess, are you waiting for the Chancellor? Or the queen?
“Fool, let me tell you a secret. When characters refresh, the system notifies me.”
The prince stiffly moved his head, imitating a mechanical voice.
“Host, please note: The Chancellor has refreshed. Cinderella has refreshed.
“I didn’t hear anything this time. Isn’t that strange? Hahaha-”
The prince threw his head back and laughed triumphantly.
The Chancellor and the queen are both dead. Tomorrow, new versions of them will appear.
“What a pity. That queen’s smile reminded me of my mother. I’ve been reluctant to kill her.”
I laughed too, lifting my skirt to pull out a dagger, swiftly plunging it into his throat.

I laughed too, lifting my skirt to pull out a dagger, swiftly plunging it into his throat.
“Fool, let me tell you a secret too.”
I leaned close to the prince’s ear.
“I love playing this game so much.”
I pulled out the dagger and sliced open the prince’s throat. A gurgling sound came from his throat as he looked at me with terrified eyes.
“I love seeing you so smug and self–assured. Isn’t this way of playing much more advanced than yours?”
The prince fell to the ground, eyes wide open, blood pooling around him.
I carried his body on my back, slowly walking from the garden, all the way to the prince’s chambers. All the maids and guards I passed lowered their heads in terror.
I took out the key from my pocket, opened the first door on the left, and went inside.

I placed the prince’s body on the ground, wiped his throat with a soft towel, then his cheeks. I removed his clothes and dressed
him in an oversized, gorgeous gown, then put a wig on him.
I applied exquisite makeup to the prince’s face. When everything was ready, he looked just like me.
I was very satisfied.
“My dear Prince No. 39, you’re even cuter than the previous ones!”
I hung the prince from the rope, then leaned in to kiss his lips.
The black cat crouched at my feet, looking at me with terrified eyes.
“What the hell kind of bad luck did I run into? Getting stuck with such a psycho host.”
I glared at it fiercely, grabbing the cat’s neck, then gently stroking its back.
“What did you just say, hmm?”
“Ahem, reporting to host-
“Prince No. 40 has refreshed.“”
I smiled, hugging the black cat.
“Wonderful. Now, what kind of story should we create for this prince to make it even more fun?”
Epilogue
On my first day as Cinderella, my black cat suddenly started talking.
It told me it was a system, and if the prince and I truly fell in love with each other, I could complete the task and return to my original world.
Epilogue
On my first day as Cinderella, my black cat suddenly started talking.
It told me it was a system, and if the prince and I truly fell in love with each other, I could complete the task and return to my original world.
The prince was very handsome. We had a grand wedding just like in the fairy tales and lived happily ever after.
But after two months, I still hadn’t completed the task. Every morning when I woke up, I was still lying in that luxurious golden
bed.
I was confused.
Until I saw the prince sneaking into the first room on the left with a maid.
I walked to the door. Soon, muffled moans of pleasure came from inside.
“Baby, you’re so much more fun than the princess.
“I’ll make your father an earl!”
I stood motionless, gripping the doorknob. The black cat perched on my shoulder, anxiously licking its paws.
“Host, we need to find a way to win back his heart.”
The door opened, and the prince and maid walked out hand in hand, clothes disheveled. Seeing me standing at the door, the
prince was shocked at first, but he quickly calmed down and put on an indient expression.
“Which nobleman doesn’t have a mistress? Cinderella, go back to your room.
I walked over, drew the prince’s sword, and plunged it into his chest.
Blood sprayed onto my face as the maid screamed loudly beside us. I smiled, dropped the sword, and went to pick up the black
cat.
“See? If a man doesn’t behave, just replace him with another one.”
Soon, I killed one prince after another.
The ones who became princes were ordinary people from my world–unremarkable men you couldn’t pick out of a crowd, suddenly becoming princes of a country.
With all the women in the city to choose from, who could focus on loving just one woman?
The legendary true love could only remain a legend.
But isn’t this game more exciting and fun than searching for love?
