Chapter 7
For the next two weeks, Colin ignored the doctors‘ advice and insisted on giving me several blood transfusions.
But my condition didn’t improve. Instead, I fell into a coma several times.
The doctor shook his head and sighed, saying that my will to survive was weak.
My previously treated depression had relapsed.
If they couldn’t find a way to improve my condition, I might attempt suicide again.
Colin came to stay with me every day.
He had a bad reputation for being moody and treating women like disposable objects.
But who would have thought that he would spend his days, tearfully begging me to live by my bedside?
After another transfusion, I gave him a rare smile.
Colin was so happy he almost fell to his knees.
“Jane, do you feel better?”
I bit my lip hard and slowly shook my head.
“Colin, you’ve given me so much blood, we’re even now.
“You don’t have to come here again. You saved me–you don’t owe me anything.”

As soon as I finished, he collapsed to his knees before me.
His trembling hand held mine tightly.
“I don’t want to be even with you, Jane. We can’t be even!
“I’ve loved you for ten years and suffered for ten years. How can we be even?”
My eyelid twitched as I stared at him in disbelief.
His eyes were filled with undeniable pain.
“Jane, now that you’ve divorced Ivan, would you consider me?
“I swear I won’t be as heartless as he was. I’ll never hurt you. Please
believe me!‘
Colin’s voice trembled, but the love in his eyes was genuine.
Under his burning gaze, I closed my tired eyes.
“Colin, don’t do this. I’m not worth it.
“My children and mom are gone. I can’t go on.
The next second, I fell into a warm embrace.
Colin held me tightly as if I were a treasure.
“Jane, please don’t say that!
“You still have me. I’ll stay with you, even to death!”
For days, he kept his promise and never left my side.
Oddly, my heart fluttered again.
My condition slowly improved.

The day before I was discharged, I dreamed of my mom and kids again.
This time, there was no hatred in their eyes.
My mom gently stroked my head, smiling.
“Jane, we don’t blame you. You must be happy.”
When I opened my eyes again, Colin knelt on one knee before me.
His face was nervous as he held out a jewelry box..
Inside was a large, dazzling diamond ring.
His fingers trembled as he tried to put it on my hand.
I smiled and didn’t refuse.
Life is a vast sea. Despite being hurt, I still had the courage to open myself to love.
No matter how hard, I would move forward.
After I left the hospital, Colin took me traveling all over the world.
We visited many places I once longed for, but Ivan always refused, claiming he was too busy.
Under the aurora in Antarctica, we shared our first kiss.
On the Arctic glacier, we snuggled together for warmth.
I realized how happy it felt to be loved.
My emotional condition improved.
But sometimes, in the middle of the night, I’d still wake up crying.
After the trip, I accepted Colin’s proposal, and the wedding was set.
Maybe he was afraid I’d change my mind, so he got everything ready in just a month.
Although it didn’t take much time to prepare, every detail was meticulously planned.
What I never expected was to see Ivan at the wedding, after not seeing him for six months.
