Chapter 10
After Janet was taken away, Justin lingered.
He stared at the luggage left behind in the room.
His heart raced with unease.
“Why the luggage? Where were they going?”
Helen approached, her eyes flickering with unreadable emotion.
She chuckled lightly.
“Probably just putting on a show for you.”
“Justin, don’t worry. With your resources, you’d find Janet even if she fled to the ends of the earth.
“Besides,” Helen nestled into Justin’s arms, “Miss Johnson would never abandon her golden goose.”
At those last words, Justin’s furrowed brow finally relaxed.
Right. Janet adored him.
‘“Let’s go.”
After a few steps, Justin turned back to his assistant.
“Tell that mother–son pair not to cross the line. Janet is still mine.”
The assistant nodded.

Beside them, Helen’s eyes flashed with something dark.
Justin left for work after dropping Helen home.
The moment his car vanished, Helen’s smile dropped.
She hastily dialed a number.
Her voice turned shrill the instant the call connected.

“I told you not to contact me recklessly! Justin was right beside me. If he’d noticed-”
A trembling male voice interrupted.
“Helen, I had no choice!”
“That Janet’s resourceful. She jumped from the moving car and escaped.”
Helen’s pupils constricted.
She nearly smashed her phone.
But remembering the servants nearby, she forced herself still.
“Useless.” Helen spat. “Can’t even control one woman?”
The man whimpered. “Justin’s people just warned us–he’ll reclaim Janet within a fortnight, whether she yields or not.”
“What if I can’t produce her?”
“This was your plan! You urged Mom and me to confront her, promised she’d be my wife. Now Justin forbids me to touch her, and she’s gone!”
Helen massaged her temples, nails digging into her palm.

“Panicking solves nothing.”
“I’ll stall Justin.”
“But you must find Janet. Fast.”
“She believes this is all Justin’s doing. She won’t dare return.”
“Find her? Silence her permanently. Can’t find her? I’ll handle the fallout.”
The man calmed, hastily agreeing.
Helen took several steadying breaths after hanging up.
Her hand rested on her abdomen, gaze distant.
She needed to get pregnant.
Within the fortnight.
A child would secure everything.
