That face, tortured until its features were nearly unrecognizable, suddenly closed in on Helen.

It scared her into a piercing scream.
“Take a good look. Who is this?”

Justin pressed down harder with his foot.
Helen trembled in agony all over.
The man weakly pleaded with her.
“Helen, Attorney Helen, Janet’s situation was all your doing.”
“I can’t take it anymore. Tell the truth.”
“Shut up!”
Helen shrieked in terror.
But seeing Justin’s icy eyes and grim face, she knew it was too late.
Only after confirming Helen’s hand was permanently crippled did Justin lift his foot.
No matter how pitifully Helen sobbed.
His expression remained unchanged.
A servant brought a chair. Justin sat calmly, his tone flat and frigid.
Chapter 16
Like the grim reaper pronouncing judgment.
“Helen, drop the act. I know every trick you played afterward.”
“I also know you deliberately got close to me from the start.”
“Your supposed lack of vanity was all an act.‘
“Even more laughable–I actually believed that fake persona.”
“I also know you lied about Janet’s sister.

“You claimed your client was innocent. You wept, saying you weren’t as skilled as Janet, that losing this case would ruin your career.”
As he spoke, Justin’s voice grew heavier.
Finally, he glared at her with hate–filled, icy eyes.
“So you drove away your own wife because of this.”
Helen saw the undisguised murderous intent in Justin’s gaze.
She knew then she wouldn’t leave this place unharmed.
Her voice trembled, all former arrogance gone.
“What… what are you planning?”
“I’m a lawyer. If anything happens to me, the law won’t spare you.”
“Lawyer?”
Justin snorted derisively. “Helen, without my backing, do you think you’d have climbed this high?”
“I lifted you up. I can crush you down.”

“You’ll taste every ounce of pain Janet and her sister endured.”
Janet saw several eager men approaching the doorway.
She understood instantly.
Her face drained of color:

Dragging her mangled hand, she scrambled over and clutched Justin’s pant leg.
“Justin, I was wrong! Truly wrong! I shouldn’t have schemed or lied. But I love you!”
“Janet’s sister won’t return. Janet won’t take you back.”
“She knows you tricked her into signing the divorce papers.”
“There’s no going back. Stay with me we’ll have a child.”
Helen gazed at Justin, eyes full of hope.
Still dreaming of becoming Mrs. Nelson.
Justin slowly shut his eyes, fury and guilt churning in his chest.
Especially when Helen mentioned Janet knew about the divorce.
Despair washed over him completely.
After all these years of marriage, Justin couldn’t possibly not know Janet’s temperament.
The two of them had truly passed the point of no return.
