Chapter 17
Justin lowered his head to look at Helen, his voice hoarse: “Your calculation was spot on, viciously accurate.”
“Janet and I truly have no chance left.”
“I’ve made up my mind–you’ll endure even more painful experiences.”
“That way, maybe Janet might still forgive me.
These words shattered Helen’s last shred of hope.
Justin walked out of the room without looking back.
Helen’s blood–curdling screams gradually rose behind him.
Later, the screams slowly turned into curses.
“Justin, you’re the one who deserves to die! What did I do wrong? You approached me first, you’re the one who changed your heart–why blame me for everything?”
“Janet will never forgive you, not in this lifetime.”
“Drop dead! Even if I go to hell, I’ll curse you–you’ll never win her heart!”
Justin gritted his teeth, finally turning to roar: “Are you deaf? Shut her up now! Rip out her tongue!”
The assistant scrambled to obey, calling bodyguards over.

Within five minutes, the curses vanished completely.
Yet Justin’s unease and agony didn’t ease one bit.
Staggering, he entered the villa’s prayer chapel.
His parents had commissioned it while still alive.

Justin’s crimson eyes reflected utter brokenness.
Lips trembling, he prayed desperately:

“Divine Pantheon, I beg you take my remaining years, just tell me where Janet is. Give her back to me.
“I can’t live without her.”
Then Justin began kowtowing repeatedly.
He kept going until dizzy, forehead bloodied, never stopping.
As if miraculously answered-
On the 99th kowtow, an aide rushed in with news about Janet and her
mother.
“Boss, they’ve been officially deregistered.”
Outside, rain poured in torrents.
Lightning flashed through the curtains, illuminating the pitch–black room

Janet turned and saw her sister’s photo on the nightstand–her nose stung instantly.
After steadying herself, she headed downstairs for beer.
But just as the fridge opened, a pale, knuckle–defined hand shoved it shut.
Startled, Janet looked up to meet sharp, handsome features.
She bit her lip, annoyed:
“Roger, why scare people at midnight?”
Roger raised an eyebrow, muttering: “Seems true.”
“What’s true?”
Janet didn’t understand.
Roger forced warm milk into her hands.
Seeing her cool face with dazed almond eyes, his usual sternness softened into a smile:
“You think my mom suddenly decided we’d stay here for days?”
“It was Rachel who came to us. She told us everything.”
“Janet, I could tell something was off the moment I saw you again.”
