Chapter 25
Justin Nelson stomped down hard, looking at the man as if he were already dead.
“Money?
Then I’ll pay you too.”
“How about I buy your life?”
–
“Daring to touch Janet Johnson? You’ve got a death wish.”
The man finally realized Justin was no ordinary person.
He understood exactly who he’d provoked.
The man immediately broke down, weeping and begging Justin for mercy.
But Justin felt no satisfaction.
He unleashed all his pent–up frustration and bitterness onto the man.
Janet staggered to her feet.
Seeing the nearly speechless beaten man,
she felt nothing but grim satisfaction.
Yet knowing Justin had saved her
left Janet with complicated emotions.

Roger Hernandez pulled Janet into a fierce embrace, his voice trembling.
“Janet, are you alright?
This is all my fault. I didn’t check my phone and missed your danger.”
Roger anxiously scanned Janet head to toe multiple times.
Only after confirming no injuries did he exhale in relief.
Justin turned and saw their clasped hands, his eyes darkening instantly.
Blind rage surged as Justin stormed over and grabbed Roger’s collar.
“If you can’t protect her, why cling to her side?”
Roger’s dark lashes fluttered guiltily, offering no rebuttal.
Janet couldn’t bear it, shoving Justin away forcefully.
Under Justin’s stunned gaze, she shielded Roger.
“Do I really need protection?
Or am I just some object you two pass around?”
Justin’s eyes reddened at the corners, wounded and flustered.
“Janet, that’s not what I meant. He’s just… hypocritical.”
“I showed up this time, but what about next? He can’t keep you safe.”
Janet laughed coldly, pointing at the half–dead man nearby.

Give it up, Justin Nelson. I won’t thank you or forgive you.”

“True, Roger wasn’t here this time. But never forget who drove me here.”
Her words silenced Justin completely.
His lips moved soundlessly, lost for words.
Shattered eyes and drying bloodstains
made him look heartbreakingly fragile.
But to Janet, this vulnerability meant nothing now.
She gathered her courage and continued.
“Let me make myself perfectly clear.
Everything I’m preparing now is to take you to court.
Justin Nelson, the only place I’ll speak civilly to you is before a judge.”
Watching Janet lead Roger into the distance,
Justin finally buckled under the blow.
He swayed and collapsed to the ground.
Passersby began appearing on the street.
Everyone stared at Justin oddly.
The proudest man simply hung his head disheveled, helplessly clenching his fists.
