“Nicole isn’t even your daughter.”
Chapter 9 Divorce
At first, Jayden couldn’t believe it. But when he saw the official seal on the document, his hands began to shake as he opened it.
When he read the results and realized he wasn’t Nicole’s biological father, he collapsed into the chair, completely defeated.
He kept tugging at his hair, his face full of disbelief.
After a long pause, he finally looked at me and said, “She’s not Elisa’s daughter either, right?”
Even now, he was still lying to himself, trying to come up with a reason to believe in Elisa.
I sneered and didn’t say anything about that. Instead, I placed the divorce papers on the table.
Ever since the celebration, my lawyer had mentioned divorce to him several times.
But Jayden always refused. I could’ve gone to court, but I didn’t want to drag things out.
“If you want to know the truth, sign it. I’ll tell you everything and set you free.”
Jayden didn’t believe me and just sat there silently.
I had no choice but to tell him the truth that Nicole was Elisa’s child.
He burst into bitter laughter and signed the papers without asking for anything in return.

After getting what I wanted, I told him everything I knew without holding back.
Seeing him staying there in a daze, I left without looking back.
Just as I was about to leave, he called out to me again.
“Wynter, I made a mistake. When we got married, I truly loved you and wanted to spend my life with you.
“If I had another shot, I’d treat you right. Can you forgive me this time?”
He said our different views on life made him feel like he wasn’t good enough, and he turned to Elisa for comfort.
He never thought those feelings would grow stronger and lead him to do something so wrong.
But I no longer cared about his reasons. Forgiveness didn’t matter anymore.
After all, I had woken up countless nights, haunted by my previous life.
The only way to start fresh was to completely walk away from him.
Once Jayden found out Nicole wasn’t his daughter, he stopped defending himself.
He came clean about buying the drug, though he didn’t mention Elisa, the one who pointed him to the lab.
I wasn’t too concerned about that.
Elisa was at fault, but she only played the role of a go–between and didn’t face real consequences.
Since Jayden didn’t bring her up, I figured he’d handle her in his own

way.
It was honestly satisfying to see the two of them turn on each other.
Between his statement and the earlier anonymous email, the police had enough proof to catch the one responsible.
Elisa’s childhood crush was arrested for dealing with incomplete drugs.
Nicole didn’t end up harming anyone but herself, yet she somehow became the face of a cautionary tale.
Jayden did buy the drug and knew what he was doing, but he wasn’t the one who used it. With my bail, he got out not long after.
