Chapter 4
Nancy froze for a moment, then blurted out, “How do you know?“]
After she spoke, Nancy’s face changed, and she seemed to realize she had said too much.]
I coldly said, “Tina goes to that expensive private kindergarten, with a hefty tuition every year. If Nancy’s daughter is so well–off, why are you working as a maid?“]]
Nancy’s face turned slightly unnatural, and she forced a smile as she said, “I’ve been busy all my life. I didn’t want to sit idle at home, so I decided to find something to do.“]
I gave her a long, cold look and didn’t say anything more.]]
It was the weekend, so I took Tina to the newly opened Capybara Theme Park.[]
On the way to the amusement park, I decided to call the police.[]
Forget about Nancy’s abuse and threats to Tina; just the fact that she stole those valuables from my house is enough to put her behind bars for a few years.[]
Tina had a great time at the amusement park, and seeing her innocent smile made me smile too.
My precious daughter, no matter who harms you, I will make them pay the price.[]
I won’t allow any shadows to taint your childhood![]
My secretary called to report on some company projects. I answered directly, “I’m spending the day with my daughter at the amusement park. Don’t bother me with work today!“]
The secretary was taken aback but quickly responded, “Understood, Ms. Morgan. However, there’s one thing I need to report. The CFO said there are some issues with the accounts at our branch. The branch is overseen by Mr. Harris; should I have him contact Mr. Harris?“]
I coldly replied, “There’s no need for any contact. Have the CFO personally send a team to audit the accounts at the branch. If there are issues, just announce it at the company’s morning meeting.“[]
After hanging up, I felt a bit irritated.]
I trusted Brandon with the branch’s operations.]
He had often complained to me, saying he had untapped potential and didn’t want people to think he got where he was by relying on me.]]
And now?
The branch had been open for less than a year, and already there were financial issues.]
If Brandon wasn’t my husband, with my temper, I would’ve already held him accountable and fired him.[]
Just then, Brandon called.]

Chapter 4
Could he have already found out that I had instructed the CFO to send someone to audit the branch’s accounts and was calling to beg me not to embarrass him in the morning meeting?[]
I answered the phone, about to ask him what was going on with the branch’s financial situation.[]
But before I could speak, Brandon’s furious voice erupted on the other end, “Olivia, have you lost your mind?!“]
“Did you call the police on Nancy?“[]
“What did she do to you? Why did you call the police on her?“]
“Get home right now! The police are at our house, and they’re causing a standoff. You need to come back and fix this misunderstanding!”
I was taken aback. I hadn’t expected Brandon to blow up like this over Nancy. So what if she was a distant relative?]
If it weren’t for her, my daughter wouldn’t have suffered like this.[]
Today, I didn’t care whose face was on the line; I was going to make sure Nancy ended up behind bars.]
Just as I was about to tell Brandon about Nancy’s abuse of Tina and stealing from our house, I heard Tina’s voice in distress.[]
At the carousel, a little boy had pushed Tina to the ground.[]
The boy was arrogant, looking down at Tina with disdain, and raised his foot as if to kick her.[]
I screamed and rushed over, lifting Tina up and glaring fiercely at the brat who had pushed her.]
He looked familiar.
Wasn’t he Mike, the boy from Tina’s class?
