Chapter 8
Several officers frowned at Brandon. While they clearly despised his shamelessness, they co deny that Brandon was right.[
Even though he had cheated on me, if we divorced, he would still be entitled to part of my assets.
I couldn’t swallow this humiliation. I was ready to fight for the divorce and prevent him from taking my assets so easily.[]
Just then, my secretary called.[]
“Ms. Morgan, we’ve found a major issue with the finances at our branch. We’ve discovered many discrepancies and falsified records.”
“Mr. Harris has been using the branch’s funds to purchase properties and luxury cars, all registered under a woman named Judie…”
Mike’s mother’s name was Judie.[]
The financial director’s audit was swift, and the timing of this phone call was impeccable.[]
After hanging up, I immediately reported the case to the police.[]
Brandon looked like he had been struck by lightning. His face turned ashen, and he stared at me in despair.
The officers, who had been waiting for this moment, immediately restrained Brandon.[]
This time, no matter how much Brandon tried to argue or beg for mercy, it was useless. The evidence was solid–embezzling company funds, falsifying records, and other illegal activities were enough to keep him in prison for many years.]
The most crucial thing was that Judie insisted on testifying in court.]
She could prove that Brandon had embezzled funds to gamble, purchased luxury items, and so on.[]
The reason she hated Brandon so much was because of that one kick. It caused Mike’s head injury, resulting in blood clots in his brain and leading to his blindness. Judie could never forgive Brandon for this.
What’s more, I promised Judie that I would cover Mike’s medical expenses if she agreed to testify.
Because of Brandon’s betrayal, I cried many times, filled with sorrow and anger, in the middle of the night.[]
However, when I saw Tina sleeping peacefully beside me, my mood would calm down a lot.[]
As long as Tina could grow up happy and healthy, I didn’t care about anything else.]
For the next period of time, I completely let go of the company’s affairs. Everything, big or small, was left to the senior executives I had personally promoted.]
My life’s focus shifted entirely to Tina.
Tina’s once timid and shy nature gradually faded away, and our home was often filled with the sound of our laughter.
Mike was expelled from the prestigious kindergarten, and mother and son moved out of the mansion into a low–income

housing unit.
Nancy was sentenced to 15 years in prison for theft and intentional injury.[]
I heard that she couldn’t handle the blow and went insane in prison.[]
As for Brandon, he was sentenced to 10 years. In his first year in prison he had a conflict with other inmates and was beaten
in the head, ending up in a vegetative state.
Mike’s surgery went smoothly. Although his vision was restored, his temper became even more volatile and unruly.]]
Going from a luxurious life to living in poverty was something he couldn’t accept, and he constantly argued with his mother.[]
Judie couldn’t bear the life of poverty either, and she couldn’t tolerate Mike’s angry and spoiled nature.]]
In the winter of the second year after Brandon was imprisoned, Judie locked all the doors and windows of the low–income housing and started a charcoal fire inside.[]
When the neighbors called the police, they broke down the door and found the cold, stiff bodies of Judie and her son.[]
Upon hearing the news, I sighed deeply.[]
Tina bounced over to me, smiling brightly, and said, “Mom, there’s a parent–child competition at kindergarten tomorrow. You have to come and participate!“]
I gently ruffled her little head and said warmly, “Of course, I’ve been practicing for a long time. I’ll definitely help us soar to the top. We’ll win first place, just wait!“]
