Zeke couldn’t hear my voice. He was eager to solve the case as quickly as possible to avoid more women falling victim.
Maybe it was his police instinct, but Zeke was the only one who believed something bad had happened to me.
“Don’t you get tired of investigating so many people and cases every day?” I asked, speaking to myself. probably because I felt utterly hopeless.
“Zeke! Here’s all the information on Madeline West. We’re sending her phone to the tech department for repairs because of its severe damage. It’ll take some time for the lab to come back with the result.”
Zeke had ordered a thorough investigation into me.
Honestly, I was curious about what kind of person I appeared to be in someone else’s investigation
“All the data on Madeline’s phone will be extracted once it’s repaired.”
I felt embarrassed. Didn’t that imply that they’d see all of my search history and diary entries in my notes?
Zeke took my file and looked it over. At eighteen, I watched my parents die in front of me.

An officer ran over and reported to Zeke.
I covered my ears, trying to block out the details of my private life, but it was useless.

“Bastard!” Zeke cursed. “What a bunch of scum!”
It seemed he genuinely believed me.
I was grateful to Zeke. It was unexpected that someone I had barely encountered once would trust me.
At this point, I could feel Zeke’s anger; he seemed to empathise with me.
I followed Zeke to the police station.
Because the impact of the serial killings in Baytown was awful, the investigation order came quickly.

“The other guy is mentally ill,” Zeke warned coldly, “Even if he kills you, there won’t be any punishment. Mr. Bradley, we suspect you have committed the crimes of molestation and sexual harassment. Please be quiet.”
Lance was stunned, and he questioned, “What? Who did I molest?”
“You hurt Madeline!” Zeke grabbed Lance by the collar and dragged him into the interrogation room.
Zeke held my diary in his hand.
I had a habit of keeping a diary. I was afraid I’d forget the harm these people had done to me, so I wrote it all down.
Lance blurted out arrogantly. That b*tch should look into the mirror. I’m doing her a favour by touching her.” He wasn’t bright, and he used to get his way because of his family’s money.
Zeke wasn’t having it. He wrote down Lance’s confession of molesting Madeline on the record.
Standing behind Zeke, I felt a strange sense of satisfaction.
This meant Lance would face the punishment he deserved.
“On the 13th, you forced Madeline to lure the killer. Is thai true?” Zeke asked sternly.
“We were just trying our luck, Lance said nonchalantly; as if it were just a game to them

I glared at Lance and was enraged by his indifference.
Exasperated, I lunged at him, trying to grab a chair to hit him, but I couldn’t hold anything. I could only watch him act haughtily.
“Do you know your ignorance and stupidity got Madeline killed?” Zeke’s hand tightened around his pen. He was furious.
“No way.
“No way. That killer wouldn’t be interested in her, Lance said dismissively.
“On the 13th, 14th, and 15th, you made Madeline go to the alley to lure the killer. She disappeared on the night of the 15th. You didn’t report it immediately, but obstruct the investigation!” Zeke slammed the table, his anger barely contained, and he held back his rage to give Lance a good beating.

“No…“Lance finally grew cautious, and he stated, “We only sent her on the 13th and 14th. The killer wasn’t interested, so we gave up. We didn’t send her on the 15th. Don’t blame us for that.”
