I had always been patient.[]
Before long, Gideon was captivated by me. We maintained an ambiguous relationship for ages without ever making it official.[]
Whenever Gideon was about to confess his feelings, I would stare blankly at his eyes, as if looking at someone else entirely.
The moment would end abruptly.[]
The words he wanted to say never found the right opportunity.
It wasn’t until college that I suddenly suggested we try dating–with the understanding that we could end it anytime if it didn’t feel right.[]
Gideon was overjoyed, like he’d won the lottery.[]
But he hid it well, pretending to be nonchalant as he agreed.[]

He stood near the men’s dormitory, watching helplessly as his girlfriend–me–behaved like a loyal dog in front of Julian, completely humiliated, without dignity.[]
After our breakup, he blocked all news related to me and Julian.[]

I froze for only a moment before quickly recovering. I turned and sat calmly on the sofa.[]
The divorce papers lay conspicuously on the coffee table.[]
Gideon’s gaze lingered on them for a long time.]
He pressed his lips together and asked, “What happened? Did my brother dump you again?“]

Gideon clenched his fists.
I spoke up: “Get it straight, Gideon. This time I dumped your brother.“[]
Gideon pressed his lips tightly together. After a long silence, he said dryly, “So…. how about giving me another chance?“]
