Nathaniel’s eyes darkened. He lowered his gaze without responding, a trace of desolation about him.]
Scarlett leaned against the doorframe. “Perhaps you think I should care for you like the person you’re imagining? But Mr. Blackwell, the dead don’t return to life. Since she’s gone, you should forget her…“]
Nathaniel cut her off, pressing his lips together. “You don’t understand anything.”
Scarlett fell silent, watching him steadily.
Nathaniel spoke softly. “She taught me the meaning of life. She gave me a home. What could you possibly understand?“[]
Scarlett did understand. She understood perfectly.[]
Nathaniel had grown up in an orphanage. When she first met him in college, she could see the loneliness in him. She knew he feared solitude, so she accompanied him as much as possible, often bringing him home to experience family warmth.[]
Nathaniel had tearfully embraced her countless times, repeatedly professing his love and saying he couldn’t live without her.[]
But in this world, no one truly can’t live without someone else.[]
She sighed lightly. “The person is gone. The living shouldn’t be trapped in the day of her death–life should flow forward.“]
With that, she turned and closed the door behind her. “Room service brought breakfast. Come eat in the living room when you’re ready.“[]
In the living room, Scarlett had just opened the breakfast when she received a call from Damian.[]
“How are these two days with Nathaniel going?”
“Just okay,” Scarlett said, casually picking up a piece of bread. “I haven’t remembered anything.”
Damian made a sound of acknowledgment. “Perhaps you should consider my suggestion.“]
Scarlett paused, recalling his marriage proposal, and laughed. “Sorry, I can’t.“[]
“Tine,” Damian said. “About the two hundred thousand dollars you owe me–when will you repay it?“]
“What two hundred thousand?” Scarlett instinctively asked, then froze. It was Willow Hart who owed Damian two hundred thousand in medical expenses.[]
If she were still Scarlett, two hundred thousand wouldn’t be impossible to repay, but as Willow, she was penniless. Her only available credit was a credit card with a three–thousand dollar balance due next month.[]
Scarlett had never considered herself materialistic and had never struggled financially before. But today, she truly experienced what it felt like to be crushed by debt. She couldn’t use someone’s body without settling their debts.[]
She sighed. “Il pay it back, but not through that method.“[]
After hanging up, Scarlett found she’d lost her appetite for the bread. She turned to see Nathaniel emerging from the bedroom, looking at her coolly
If you need help. I can resolve this for you.“]
“No thank you, Mr. Blackwell. This is between me and Mr. Frost–it has nothing to do with you.“[]
Scarlett set down the bread and headed for the door. “You should be concerned about Riley.“]
Nathaniel pressed his lips together, watching her retreating figure, his gaze deep and turbulent with powerful emotions.[]
Since their business deal fell through, they returned to Chicago that evening.
At the hospital, Nathaniel leaned back in his chair, his fingers tightly gripping the edge of the table, knuckles white with tension, as if struggling to control something
Bell sounds rang in his ears as a vision of endless white tulle appeared before him. Starflowers covered the entire crystalline hall

He watched Scarlett in a pure white wedding dress, carrying her beloved starflowers, walking step by step down the red carpet, past him, toward Damian. She extended her hand, and Damian took it in his, placing a gentle kiss on it.[]
Nathaniel snapped awake, drenched in cold sweat. He covered his eyes, feeling a chill throughout his body.]
The therapist asked, “Hypnosis helps you see your inner mind. What did you see?“]
Nathaniel was silent for a moment, unwilling to recall the scene in his dream.
He simply said coldly, “I won’t let that happen.”
After leaving the hospital, Nathaniel returned to the company. Just as he reached the building, he spotted two familiar figures through the coffee shop window across the street.
He froze, watching as Damian took out a ring and proposed to Scarlett–no kneeling, no flowers.
Under his intense gaze, Scarlett hesitated briefly, then reached out and accepted the ring.
