The moment the call connected, Ryan’s voice exploded through the speaker.]
“You’ve really done it this time. You knew damn well Sophia was pregnant when you shoved her. The doctor says she’s at risk of miscarrying. Get your ass to the hospital now and beg for forgiveness on your knees!“]

A wave of hopelessness washed over Aria, but she still attempted to defend herself: “I swear I didn’t push her. I would never-
Ryan cut her off with a snort of disgust.]
“Save the bullshit. Why would Sophia make up something that puts her own baby at risk?“[]
Aria suddenly lost the will to argue, glancing down at her bandaged abdomen with resignation. “I just had emergency surgery. I physically can’t leave this bed.”
Perhaps her voice truly conveyed her weakened state, because Ryan fell silent momentarily.[]
But then he laughed coldly, sarcasm dripping from every word:[]
“Playing the victim card now? You’ve crossed a line with Sophia, and I’ve got plenty of ways to make sure you apologize properly.”
The line went dead.]
A sense of impending disaster settled over Aria as she listened to the dial tone.[]
But the anesthesia’s lingering effects and complete dehydration left her head pounding and thoughts scattered.]
She had no strength to prepare for whatever was coming and drifted into uneasy sleep amid the antiseptic smell.]]
Some time later, the crack of her hospital door being kicked open jolted her awake.]
Aria’s heart hammered against her ribs as she stared in confusion at several hulking security men crowding her doorway.
Ryan emerged from behind them, his face twisted with undisguised malice.
“Quite the performance you’re putting on. Even picked the same hospital for maximum sympathy points?“[]
Aria could only shake her head weakly: “The ambulance brought me here…”[]
Ryan had zero interest in her explanations. He nodded curtly to the waiting security team, , his voice ice–cold:[]
“Get her out of that bed and up to the 17th floor to apologize to Sophia. Now.”

Two guards seized Aria by the arms, half–dragging her toward the elevator.[]
Her hair hung in tangled strands, cold sweat plastering it to her ghost–white face.
She looked like death warmed over, so frail it seemed a strong breeze might shatter her.[]
Other patients in the hallway witnessed the bizarre procession, gathering to whisper and point accusingly.[]
“Look at those hickeys–clearly not the innocent victim she’s pretending to be!”
“Being manhandled by security–probably the mistress who got caught and had to be dragged back to face the wife![]
Hearing these cruel assumptions, Aria experienced a profound emptiness, as if her soul had simply checked out.[]
She couldn’t fight against these men, and could only plead weakly, over and over:
“Please listen… I had a ruptured corpus luteum… I’m hemorrhaging… I just came out of surgery…“]
Ryan followed a few paces behind, arms crossed over his chest, completely unmoved by her distress.[]
“Save the drama for Sophia. Let’s see how your little act holds up then.“]

Chapter 5
Eventually, they reached the private suite at the corridor’s end.[]
The door swung open to reveal Sophia lounging comfortably on her hospital bed, casually eating strawberries. The room looked more like a luxury hotel suite, with snacks covering every surface and a flat–screen playing a reality show.
Seeing Aria collapse to the floor. Sophia instantly switched to concerned mode:
“Oh my god, Aria looks awful! Should you really be treating her this way?”
Ryan closed the door, shutting out prying eyes, and reassured her gently:[]
“Don’t worry about her, babe. It’s all for show.“[]
Aria felt crushed by the weight of her situation. With her last scrap of dignity, she insisted:[]
“I’ve said it a thousand times–I never pushed her!“[]
Ryan’s temper exploded as he smashed his designer watch against the wall.[]
“Enough! Stop pushing your luck. Apologize to Sophia. Now.”
Aria hugged her knees to her chest, tears sliding down her face: “I did nothing wrong. Why should I apologize for something I didn’t do…”
Watching Aria’s broken state, Sophia barely contained her triumphant smile.[]
She tugged Ryan’s hand, her voice honey–sweet: “If she doesn’t want to say sorry, that’s okay. I’ll be fine.“[]
Ryan’s fists clenched tight enough to whiten his knuckles, rage darkening his features.[]
Throughout their three–year marriage, Aria had maintained this maddening emotional distance–never truly engaging with him, never showing jealousy over his affairs.
No matter what he did, she preferred suffering in silence to giving him the satisfaction of seeing her break.]
The thought only fueled his anger, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl:[]
“If you’re this stubborn, I assume your parents‘ company doesn’t matter anymore?“]
