“It was Chuck calling.”
1 frowned. “What did he want?”
“He wants you to come back. He asked where you are and what you’re doing.“]
“How did you respond?“[]
Lucien’s eyes suddenly became evasive, his ears turning red: “I said you were sleeping, then hung up.“]
I fell silent.
The room stayed quiet for a long time, and without reassurance, he grew increasingly uncertain about my thoughts.
Gathering his courage, he leaned closer and asked: “Did I say something wrong?“||
“No, you just told the truth.“[]
Though Chuck might misinterpret it.[]
But it didn’t matter–I didn’t care what he thought.]
Leaving Lucien’s room, I figured Chuck and Isa must have returned to America.[]

“Do you want to thank me in person? That’s not necessary.”
Chuck’s breathing grew heavy with anger: “Those were words some strange man tricked you into writing. I won’t agree to any of it! Come back immediately and continue treatment!”
I refused.

After ten seconds of standoff, Chuck suddenly lowered his head and apologized: “I’m sorry. I was wrong to think you were lying before.“[]

He gradually began to plead: “There’s less than three months left. Please don’t gamble with your life out of spite, okay?”

A loud crash came from his end, as if something had shattered, accompanied by a woman’s scream.[]

Chuck was out of options and quickly agreed: “Okay.“[]
I calmly hung up, unable to suppress a cold laugh.

“I know you feel guilty about Willow, so I can wait until she’s gone before we can be together properly. I love you more than she does, I understand you better.“[]
