[Oh my God, what kind of monster is this?]
[A hundred cuts? This is attempted murder!]
[Do those who cursed Miss Sterling earlier feel their faces burning now??]
Chloe’s live stream was overwhelmed by furious netizens.
[You two evil bastards are so malicious!]
[Acting out a tragic romance, you’re accomplices to murder!]
[Go die already!]
In the detention center, Julian watched the surveillance footage on the wall, his body stiff. On the screen, his knife strokes grew more practiced, my agonizing expression so clear.
“I actually…” he murmured. “I, how could I have…”
Suddenly, a violent headache struck him. Unfamiliar memories flooded into his mind like a tide.
9
Wedding night.
White bed sheets.
I was wearing a thin nightgown, my eyes full of anticipation and shyness.
“Julian…” I softly called his name.
But his eyes held only coldness and disgust.
“Chloe only asked for a doctor to help her with a detox, and you let her miss the optimal treatment time! Tonight, you’ll feel the despair she felt!”
He brutally violated my lower body, ignoring my pleas and cries. Blood stained the bed sheets. My life slowly drained away, my eyes gradually losing focus.
“No… No… Stop it now!!” Julian clutched his head, letting out an inhuman howl of pain.
More memories surged forth. Chloe’s tears, her wronged accusations.
“Julian, Seraphina bullied me again.”
“She said I didn’t deserve to wear her clothes, and called me a lowly maid’s daughter,”
“My hand is all bruised from her hitting me, but I didn’t dare fight back.”
But now he remembered. That day, Chloe had just accidentally fallen and mildly twisted her wrist. She had exaggerated, turning a minor injury into a severe one, an accident into an intentional act. And he had believed her. He had believed
every word, or rather, deep down, he had always favored Chloe.
“I killed her…” Julian broke down. “I killed her with my own hands…”
Police rushed into the cell. He was frantically banging his head against the wall, blood streaming down his forehead.
“I’m a beast! I deserve to die!”
In the hospital, I was receiving an IV. The door suddenly burst open.
Julian had somehow escaped from prison, the blood on his face still not wiped away. He fell to his knees in front of my bed with a thud.
“Seraphina!” He screamed hysterically. “I remember! I remember everything from my past life!”
I watched him quietly, my heart as still as water.
“I killed you! On our wedding night, I killed you!” He frantically kowtowed, his forehead hitting the cold floor. “I’m not
human! I’m a beast!”
“Please, kill me! Kill me to repay you!”
Blood flowed from his forehead, dripping onto the white floor. I reached out and pressed the call button by the bed.
“Nurse, there’s a psychiatric patient causing a disturbance here.”
My voice was so calm it surprised even myself, as if I were remarking on the nice weather. Julian continued to kowtow like a madman, his mouth moving incessantly. It took several nurses and security guards to forcibly drag him away.
“Seraphina! Please forgive me! Give me one more chance… Just one more chance to make it up to you! This time, I’ll truly love you!!”
His voice echoed down the hallway, desperate and piercing.
I closed my eyes, a cold sneer on my lips. Forgive? What value do you have left for me? What do you have to repay me with?
The day Chloe was taken away, my father specially had me wait in the main hall. She was wearing a prison uniform, her hands cuffed, and the pathetic expression on her face had finally vanished, replaced by pure hatred.
