Chapter 18
Calvin’s jaw tightened as he clenched the wedding ring that Helena had thrown away in his palm. Despite its extremely simple and round design, he still felt a sharp pain when he squeezed it tightly.
“Come home, I can forgive you,” Calvin said with a cold expression.
Helena suddenly laughed until her face hurt, and her heart hurt even more. These seven years were like a nightmare that she had mistakenly thought was a beautiful dream.
“Professor Fernandez, in your mind, am I just a dog by your side, needing to be tied to you whether or not you give me meat, unable to go anywhere?”
Calvin frowned, he did not like such vulgar and grating metaphors.
Soon, Helena caught the disgust on his face and sneered, “What? Feeling disgusted after just a few words? Then why didn’t you feel disgusted when you were with Kate?”
Before the man could react, Helena walked straight to the living room, inserted the USB drive into the computer, and directly projected it onto the TV.
In an instant, the screen suddenly lit up. The study room, as seen from the surveillance camera, was brightly reflected in Calvin’s eyes. Kate was squatting on the ground, completely naked, tirelessly trying to please.
While the usually aloof Professor Fernandez sat at his desk, his face slightly flushed and his gaze unfocused and vacant.
Calvin’s pupils constricted, and he instinctively explained, “It’s medicine!
Chapter 18
Kate used medi
“What medicine? Viagra?” Helena sarcastically glanced at the man. For the first time, she realized that the man she had loved deeply for seven years was nothing but an emotionally immature coward.
Perhaps Kate used some dirty tricks, but it cannot be denied that Calvin. was also enjoying it, right?
Helena sneered, “Did she force you into bed? Or was it that you reluctantly conceived your child with her?”
Calvin wanted to continue explaining, but Helena was already too lazy to listen. She looked at Vicente and wearily said, “Please have him leave.”
“Okay.” Vicente didn’t hesitate and rang the bell, signaling the security to
come upstairs.
Calvin unconsciously looked at Vicente’s face, tightly pursed his lips, and finally said coldly, “And what about him? What is he? A substitute?”
Vicente froze for a moment.
For the first time, he stood in front of his cousin, feeling a sense of shame and inferiority.
They looked extremely similar, and whoever saw them would think that Helena was just a rebound after her divorce.
The air suddenly fell silent, and everyone was waiting for Helena’s
answer.
The woman remained silent for a moment and did not answer promptly.
Calvin’s emotions on his face gradually calmed down, his heartbeat slowly easing, as he casually glanced at Vicente.

Chapter 18
It is obvious that a few days of feelings can’t compare to his seven years
with Helena.
However, just as he was about to approach Helena, the woman finally spoke.
“Calvin,” she said softly, “I thought that when I was with Vicente, I would imagine your face, or deceive myself by pretending he was you.”
“However, I did not.” Helena spoke at a steady pace, “In fact, before I married you, I had a brief relationship with Vicente. The reason for the breakup was simple – it may have seemed like I was cheating on you, but in reality, it was because your personalities were so different that I couldn’t even compare him to you.”
At this point, Helena looked up sharply at Calvin and said, “So, do you understand? Every second I spent with Vicente, I never once thought of you, not even for a second.”
Helena always believed that the intensity of love would gradually cool and eventually disappear in the daily cold violence.
In the past, she persisted for a long time. Despite Calvin’s weariness of her, she tried her best to maintain that undignified marriage, as if that would make her a winner in life.
But later, she realized that she had been too fixated on marriage.
Looking back now, divorce turned out to be a kind of liberation. At least she no longer felt inferior and self–pitying because of Calvin.
Helena looked up, her eyes unusually clear, and said lightly, “Kate ist pregnant, Calvin. If you still have a conscience, you should go to the hospital to take care of her, instead of sulking in front of your ex–wife.”
Helena paused, her tone suddenly becoming somewhat sharp.

“Calvin, you are already thirty years old, you are no longer young,” she said. After that, security came upstairs and took Calvin out.
Helena lowered her gaze, standing by the French window, watching Calvin moving slowly on the street. She couldn’t tell if she felt relieved or bitter inside.
Suddenly, she realized that everything would pass. Even the most painful and tormenting things from the past would eventually pass.
Helena blinked and looked at the consistently gloomy sky, then suddenly turned around and hugged Vicente.
She greedily absorbed the warmth from the man’s body, and in that moment, she suddenly understood a lyric that she had never been able to comprehend before.
It wasn’t until I had been friends with you for many years that I realized my tears were not just for you, but for others as well.
Helena closed her eyes, smelling the cedar scent that belonged to Vicente in the air. Suddenly, she realized that she actually didn’t like the smell of bergamot.
Just over these years, she had gotten used to it.
Never see you again, Calvin.
