Chapter 1
When she became Leonard Anderson’s wife, she was only 22, while he was already 32.
Not only was he older in age, but he was also more mature and experienced in everything else.
In their three years as a married couple, he was endlessly kind to her, giving in to her every wish. He treated her like she was the most precious thing in his life, except for his constant need for her late at night. Whenever she wept and begged for a break, he would just laugh softly and continue holding on.
She understood that all his wealth and affection were given to her alone.
But on the day her father passed away, she called him almost a hundred times, and he ignored each call.
A moment later, her best friend sent her a photo with a message, “Bella, isn’t this your husband? I saw him holding a woman in Paris.”
When she opened the photo and saw who was in it, her heart froze like she had fallen into a pit of ice.
It was him.
And the woman in his arms was her aunt.
Leonard didn’t come home until three days after Isabelle Carroll’s father died.

When he stepped inside, the first thing he saw was Isabelle sitting on the sofa. looking tired and pale, with swollen red eyes.
A deep sense of guilt rushed over him, and he hurried over to wrap his arms around her. He explained, “Bella, I had to rush to Paris for an unexpected meeting. I didn’t get your calls because of the time difference, so I wasn’t there for the funeral.
“It’s all my fault. Tell me what I can do to make it up to you, okay?”
Isabelle quietly listened without any expression, her face still and empty like still water.
She didn’t say a word. Instead, she reached into her purse, pulled out two papers, flipped to the last page, and handed them to him. “Leonard, these are the only two things I want. Please sign them.”
Feeling relieved, Leonard quickly grabbed a pen and signed his name without a second thought.
When Isabelle saw how quickly he signed, her eyes turned red. “You didn’t even look at what you’re signing. Aren’t you worried that I might be asking for something really valuable?”
Leonard gently pulled her into his arms with a helpless smile. “Bella, we’re married. Everything I have is already yours. And when the baby is born, it’ll belong to both you and the baby. You can have whatever you want, okay?”
As he spoke, he bent down and pressed his ear to her belly. “Are you going to the doctor today for a checkup? Has the baby been active? Can I go with you?”
Isabelle stayed quiet, neither agreeing nor refusing.

Assuming she was fine with it, Leonard carefully helped her into the car.
The ride was filled with heavy silence, and no one said a word.
Leonard tried to think of something to talk about, but suddenly his phone
rang.
“Leonard, I just got home and want to see you,” a woman’s voice said.
Because she was sitting close, Isabelle could clearly hear her aunt Anora Barnett’s voice coming through the phone.
Without thinking, she clenched her fists. A second later, she watched Leonard end the call. “Bella, something came up at work. Could you go to the doctor on your own today?”
Isabelle didn’t expose his lie and quietly stepped out of the car.
In the chilly wind, she waved for a taxi, and memories returned as she watched the streets blur past the window.
Several years earlier, Isabelle had been in a car accident. The driver ran away, and people nearby were too scared to help. As she lay bleeding and close to death, Leonard came by and lifted her up like a hero from
nowhere.
At that moment, she fell for this man who was ten years older than her.
Luckily, the calm and mature Leonard had feelings for her too.
After a year of dating, they became husband and wife.
Maybe because of the age gap, he always showed a lot of patience. Once they were married, they never fought, and he never forgot to surprise her with presents or celebrate special days.
