Chapter 4
I covered my burning cheek, staring at him in disbelief. “What are you talking about? I have no idea…
His eyes were bloodshot as he cut me off in a rage. “Isabelle! You’ve always been so gentle and well behaved. How did you suddenly become so vicious? Where’s your kindness? Is this how your family raised you?“]
When he brought up my family, I couldn’t help but raise my voice too. “I told you, it wasn’t me!“||
My phone suddenly buzzed. A text from an unknown number with an address popped up on the screen
“I knew it was you!” He snatched my phone away, his fury intensifying
“I don’t even know that address…” I tried desperately to explain.]]
He wouldn’t listen to my explanations, roughly grabbing my wrist and dragging me to the car.
The car raced wildly to the coastline, where he threw me onto the sharp rocks like I was garbage. The rough stone surface immediately cut open my palms, blood streaming down
“I’m asking you one last time–where is Vanessa?” He loomed over me, demanding an
answer
Tlooked up at this man I’d once loved so deeply, my heart breaking. “I really don’t know.”
Two bodyguards stepped forward. I backed away in terror. “Dominic! What the hell are you doing?”
He turned his face away, his voice ice–cold. “Vanessa is carrying my child. You shouldn’t have done this ”
The metal rod came down hard. I clearly heard the crack of my arm breaking. The excruciating pain made me collapse to the ground, cold sweat soaking through my clothes. I didn’t even have the strength left to scream.
“Still not saying?” He stared down at me coldly
Just then, weak cries for help suddenly echoed from below the cliff. Dominic rushed over and personally rescued Vanessa
“Mr. Harlow please don’t blame your wife…she just lost her head for a moment.” Vanessa leaned against Dominic’s chest, barely breathing as she “pleaded” for me.
Dominic held her tenderly. “Shh, don’t talk You’re hypothermic.“]
Then he turned to me with a harsh voice. “Since you like throwing people off cliffs, now you get to find out what it feels like
Vanessa asked with fake concern, “She’ll be fine, right?”
“She’s an excellent swimmer. Dominic’s cold laugh completely shattered my
heart.]
He’d forgotten–I’d nearly drowned trying to save him years ago and could never swim again since then []
I was thrown mercilessly down the cliff
As night fell, the bone–chilling seawater gradually consumed my body heat
1 screamed for help until my voice was hoarse, but only the waves answered back. My phone signal kept cutting in and out, hope slowly fading, just as 1 was losing consciousness, my phone suddenly rang
Wath trembling hands, I answered. A familiar deep voice came through the speaker. “Why did it take you so long to pick up?]
Using the last of my strength, I whispered softly
“That thing you said about wanting to have a baby with me–dues that still stand?”
