Chapter 15 She Deserves the Job
“It turns out that she pulled strings. No wonder she is a diva.”
“Stop it. She can hear you.”
“So what if she hears me…”
Shirlene listened to their gabble and looked at Daisy coolly with
a faint smile.
It was just a gaze. But Daisy could feel the pressure that made
her too timid to look into Shirlene’s eyes.
Daisy actually had fear for Shirlene, who was a loser in her
heart!
“Now that you think it’s unfair, we should let the truth do the talking.” Shirlene said calmly, “You didn’t announce your final decision, right?”
The judge swiped sweat off his forehead and said hurriedly, “Not yet.”
“In this case, it’s not over. Why can’t I attend the selection?”
“Of course, you can.” Kenneth said, “I invited Ms. Shirlene with

sincerity. If nothing is wrong, let’s get started.”
Kenneth took Shirlene’s side, apparently. No one dared to speak
anymore.
But meanwhile, more people sized Shirlene up. They couldn’t
help wondering who was her backup.
After all, some even didn’t know her.
Daisy grabbed her dress above her lap, staring at Shirlene with
jealousy and resentment.
She thought, “Why would Shirlene always steal my thunder
when she showed up? If it weren’t for her, I’d have become the
heroine!
What a bitch!”
There was a black piano onstage. Shirlene walked to it and sat
down. After adjusting the chair, she started playing the piano.
Her fair and long fingers moved fast on the black and white
keys, giving out beautiful music that captivated people.
Lester was leaning against the chair lazily, but now, he opened his eyes wide to stare at the young woman onstage with full
attention. His eyes shone with admiration.

Shirlene indulged in the playing, not noticing that someone
stopped at the door to the interview hall for the beautiful music.
Sebastian stared at Shirlene with unknown emotions in his
eyes.
Shirlene was wearing a blue dress with her black hair down on
her shoulders. It waved slightly as she moved.
Shirlene had delicate features, but she never appeared
coquettish. Instead, she looked ethereally stunning. As she
played the piano gracefully, she gave out a special charm.
She was a stunner.
At that moment, the thought popped out of Sebastian’s mind. Somehow, he thought of that night when Shirlene was turned
on and behaved like a charming enchantress.
She was a real enchantress.
Maybe she was sent to torture him.
Sebastian smiled, but his smile faded away in an instant. Then indifference took over him again. He left the hall.
In the hall, everyone’s attention was drawn by Shirlene onstage. They felt as if they had flown into an illusory romantic rose

garden along with the music. Shirlene’s dress danced in the
breeze. And the scenario of the ocean of roses became vivid.
Everyone enjoyed the song. They were still amazed when
Shirlene stopped playing.
Over 20 seconds later, loud applause burst out.
Lester raised his card at once to give a mark.
10 points!
Daisy’s face was twisted for a moment. Then she found that the
four judges gave Shirlene full marks.
As Daisy grabbed the chair so hard, her long nail broke with a
crisp crack.
“Thank you for your recognition. Thanks,” Shirlene said politely
with a smile and glanced at Daisy proudly.
Daisy gritted her teeth.
Then someone nearby sighed, “I didn’t expect her to be so good. I thought she got in by the back door.”
“Yeah! She’s a pro!”
“She’s so pretty and so good at piano. She should get the job in
Chapter 15 She Deserves the Job
“Rosy Illusion“!”
“Rosy Illusion” was Lester’s new song. It was said that Rowell
Dey, a famous lyricist, wrote the song for his first love. There
was a long piano solo in the song. Daisy remembered that only
an excellent pianist could give full play to this part.
In the previous life, Daisy got the job. Somehow, however,
Rowell learned about this and insisted that Heyday
Entertainment should replace her. Otherwise, he would end the
cooperation with Heyday Entertainment. It was Shirlene who
met Rowell in person and helped Daisy keep the job.
For this reason, Shirlene learned that he wrote “Rosy Illusion”
for her mother.
At the judges‘ table, an older man stared at Shirlene with doubt
on his face and then said something to the person beside him.
Then people looked at her too.
Shirlene was standing there quietly with a graceful and decent
smile.
The older judge looked at her with a mild smile. “Are you
Shirlene Osborne? May I ask who your mother is?”
Mother?
Chapter
People were confused.
Shirlene answered with a faint smile, “Tillie Bernstein.”
Some gasped.
A female judge at the table put on an excited smile. “It turns out
she is your mom. No wonder your playing is so good! I’m a big
fan of your mom. I even went to Brinedale for her concert.
Unfortunately, she retired after getting married…”
“At least, you had the chance to listen to her playing. I didn’t
even have the chance. What a pity!”
“That’s really a pity…”
Shirlene listened as they praised her mother. A sense of sadness
came to her.
It turned out that some people still remembered her mother.
Her mother wasn’t forgotten by people. As her daughter, Shirlene felt so proud.
As it was the right time, Kenneth explained, “I think only some of you who know about piano a lot understand what Tillie Bernstein means. She was the first pianist from our country to play in the Lanren Center in Newmire with great fame at home

and abroad.
“When I look at Shirlene, I can see the charm of her mother. She
deserves the job!”
It was Rowell’s idea to make Tillie’s daughter the heroine. He
was afraid that Shirlene wouldn’t be qualified. But to his
surprise, she was good.
All their gazes fell on Shirlene, be it with admiration,
appreciation, jealousy, or hostility.
In the waiting zone, Daisy stared at Shirlene’s calm and pretty
face, pulling her dress so hard.
She thought, “Again, Shirlene got what she wanted easily!
Why could she always be so lucky and get what she wanted?
In what way is she better than me?
Unfair!
I can’t accept it!”
