Chapter 3
The club was ablaze with colorful lights.[]
Once, this had also been one of my favorite places to come.]]
I’d grown up surrounded by love and adoration, with a bright personality like fire.]]
My friends jokingly called me the wild rose of the elite circle.[]
At Jake’s college reunion, I first met Kael and was attracted by his cold, ascetic appearance.
I roundabout asked Jake if he was single.]
Jake rolled his eyes: “With that ice–cold personality of his, what girl would dare get close to him?“]]
My heart leaped with joy.[]
He was cold, I was passionate–a perfect match.]
I began secretly pursuing him relentlessly behind Jake’s back.[]
I even changed my college choice from NYU to USC where Kael was.]]
When Jake found out I’d changed my choice, he was furious and cursed me out.]

But scolding aside, he still loved me deep down and called Kael to ask him to look out for me.]]
I secretly laughed to myself: everything was going according to plan.]
Back then, I thought I was brilliant, that both Kael and Jake were dancing to my tune.[]
But only today did I realize how pitifully stupid I’d been.[]
The server led me to the private room door.[]
The atmosphere inside was lively.[]
Someone was stirring up trouble: “Kael, you usually guard that little girlfriend of yours so closely, rarely bringing her out for us brothers to meet. Now that Sophia’s back too.” []
“Now I have to ask girlfriend or sister, who’s more important to you?”
My footsteps stopped.]]
I held my breath waiting for the answer.[]
Kael swallowed a mouthful of alcohol and didn’t respond.[]
Sophia stamped her foot angrily, pouting at him: “Kael!“]

Only then did Kael’s mouth curve up.]]
Crystal glass met marble tabletop.
His cold voice rang out.[]
“Girlfriend can be replaced, but there’s only one sister. You tell me who’s more important?“]

“Ooh giving me goosebumps.” Everyone jeered.]]
Sophia stood up triumphantly, pointing her finger at most of the people in the room:
“You, you, and you–you lost the bet. Transfer me the money now.“]]
Kael looked puzzled: “What do

Sophia explained.[]
“They bet with me whether you cared more about your girlfriend or me. Everyone who lost has to transfer me 200,000.“[]
Everyone cried out in pain about the
financial loss, pulling out their phones to transfer money.

Kael watched their exaggerated reactions and snorted.]
“Serves you right!“]
I raised my hand and knocked on the private room door.[]
