Chapter 7
He chuckled and tousled my hair. “You’re still as impatient as when you were a kid. Let’s get married after you recover.
“My parents have already planned the wedding, so don’t worry.”
So, I spent three whole months recovering before Mason let me leave the hospital.
Even though I was taken care of, the burn scars on my body were unavoidable.
When Mason saw me staring at the scars, he comforted me softly. “Don’t worry. I’ve found the best scar removal expert. With time and treatment, the scars will fade.”
I shook my head. “I
ant to keep them.”
By keeping the scars, I can remember the harm Adam and the Daulton sisters did to me.
Looking up at Mason, I asked,
at Mason, I asked, “Will you mind them?”
Mason leaned down and gently kissed my scar, then looked at me with a smile. “Of course not.”
Crash!
Adam swept the teacup off the table like a madman, shattering it into pieces.
“What did you say? Hannah’s mother is dead?”
The bodyguard handed him the death certificate. “Yes, Mrs. Acrea’s mother passed away a month ago. Mrs. Acrca personally handled the funeral arrangements.”
Adam couldn’t believe it, repeatedly checking the death certificate. “How is this possible? Why didn’t I know anything? Why didn’t Hannah tell me?”
The bodyguard looked up at him, hesitating before speaking. “The day Mrs. Acrea’s mother died, you were celebrating the Daulton sisters‘ birthday with them.
“Later, when Ms. Abigail was burned by fireworks, you were busy taking
her to the hospital and summoned all specialists for a consultation. her to the hospital and summoned a
“Mrs. Acrea’s mother didn’t receive timely rescue and passed away.
“We checked Mrs. Acrea’s call records. She called you many times, but you kept hanging up.”
Adam staggered unsteadily, almost falling to the ground.
The bodyguard steadied him in time and continued, “Mrs. Acrea’s mother. has been relying on our group’s special medicine to stay alive for years. Ever since you decided to allocate the medicine to Ms. Abigail’s father first, Mrs. Acrea’s mother hasn’t received the medicine for nearly half a year to ease her condition.”
Hearing this, Adam’s heart raced wildly.
His voice trembling, he asked, “Still no news about her?”
The bodyguard replied, “We’ve dispatched more men to search, but there’s truly no trace of Mrs. Acrea.
“We only know a helicopter appeared around the villa that night. It was

too dark, and we were busy putting out the fire, so we didn’t pay attention.”
Just then, Abigail and Layla walked in with armfuls of shopping bags, exuding the air of noble socialites.
They clicked across the floor in high heels, swaying their waists as they approached Adam.
Each sat on one side of him, pressing tightly against him.
J’Adam, what’s wrong? How could you leave us abroad and come back
alone? Do you know how scared we were?”
“You have no idea the hardships we faced on the way back. If it weren’t
for thinking of you, we could hardly have held on.”
Adam glanced coldly at the luxury goods they’d bought.
He signed a check without a care and threw it at them. “Get lost.”
Both women were stunned, staring at Adam in shock.
“Adam, what do you mean by this?”
Looking at their identical faces, Adam felt nothing but disgust.
Now there was only Hannah in his heart, and he missed her deeply.
He longed to see her smile.
To see Hannah and her dog playing in the courtyard.
At this thought, he remembered that the dog had already been eaten by
them.
